Gemini’s deep connection to Android and Google services does not automatically make it the preferred AI assistant for every task. In several daily-use scenarios, ChatGPT is viewed as more dependable for complex instructions, persistent context, web research, image work, and third-party connections.
The contrast matters most for people who use an AI chatbot across ongoing work rather than for isolated prompts. Gemini remains useful inside Gmail, Docs, and Keep, but ChatGPT is considered stronger in five practical areas highlighted in a report cited by Liputan6.
| Area | Gemini limitation noted | ChatGPT advantage noted |
|---|---|---|
| Instructions | May miss parts of long requests | More consistent with detailed directions |
| Context | No import of another chatbot’s history | Retains context from earlier conversations |
| Images | Edited colors can shift | More consistent color palettes |
| Web search | Summaries can omit key details | Captures more information across pages |
| Integrations | Strongest within Google’s ecosystem | Broader third-party service access |
1. More Reliable With Complex Instructions
Long, multi-layered prompts can expose a key weakness when an assistant overlooks one of the requested steps. Gemini was reported to have missed instructions in ordinary chats and when used through Notebook features.
The issue appeared in a request to help build a comprehensive expense-tracking system. Gemini’s automatic scheduling feature was also reported to have been unresponsive for several weeks despite repeated attempts.
It remains unclear whether those problems were caused by a bug or another factor. Still, ChatGPT is seen as the safer option when a workflow must follow numerous requirements at once.
2. Personal Context Carries Over More Effectively
Long-term use can give ChatGPT an advantage because personal and work-related context may build across hundreds of conversations. That history can help the assistant understand a new request with less need for repeated background information.
Gemini offers Personal Intelligence through the Google ecosystem, yet it does not provide a way to import conversation history and personal context from another AI chatbot. For users who have spent a long time with ChatGPT, changing assistants can therefore feel like starting over.
3. Image Editing Is Seen as More Stable
Gemini uses Nano Banana for image generation and editing, and the process is said to be faster. However, speed does not always produce the desired result when a task requires accurate, stable color handling.
In vector creation and image editing, Gemini was said to make colors too muted or too bright even after a specific hexadecimal color code was provided. ChatGPT also has limitations in image generation, but it is viewed as better at following visual instructions and maintaining a requested palette.
4. Web Summaries Can Be More Detailed
Being a Google product does not necessarily make Gemini the strongest tool for reviewing multiple web pages and producing a summary. Gemini was said to miss important information in such tasks, including after a follow-up request for greater detail.
ChatGPT was considered better at capturing details that did not appear in Gemini’s response to the same task. That difference can reduce the need to revisit every original page when users are sorting through large amounts of reading material.
5. Connections Extend Beyond Google Services
Gemini remains particularly useful alongside Google apps such as Gmail, Docs, and Keep, while Google also provides tools for image and video generation within its ecosystem. The limitation is that many users rely on services beyond Google’s own platforms.
ChatGPT can work with Spotify and Apple Music for music and playlists, as well as Expedia, Skyscanner, DoorDash, Uber, and Canva for other tasks. Gemini has opened MCP connections for third-party developers, but broader integration outside Google services is still at an early stage.
