Samsung has introduced three new foldable phones, led by the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with a 200 MP ultrawide camera and a 5,000 mAh battery. The top-tier model also has an 8-inch main display and 45W fast charging support.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra was launched alongside the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 at Samsung’s “A New Shape Unfolds” event in London, England, on Wednesday (22/7). The lineup separates large-screen Fold devices from the more compact clamshell-style Flip model.

The Ultra’s camera system is its clearest distinction from the other two devices. It combines a 10 MP main camera, a 200 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
Samsung also uses Flex Titanium in the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. The company says the technology is intended to strengthen the display, reduce the visibility of crease marks, and retain flexibility through repeated folding.
The Ultra weighs 215 grams, compared with 201 grams for the regular Fold8. It offers a 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage option, along with 12 GB RAM versions with either 512 GB or 256 GB of storage.
Samsung’s President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business, Roh Tae Moon, also known as TM Roh, said the launch is intended to expand access to premium mobile experiences and smarter AI. “By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again delivering a leap in premium mobile experiences while opening a new era of smarter AI to more users,” Roh said at the launch.
1. Galaxy Z Fold8 adopts a wider format
The Galaxy Z Fold8 has a shorter and wider body than its predecessor. When opened, its 7.6-inch main screen has a near-4:3 aspect ratio that resembles a small tablet.
Its 5.5-inch cover display and main display both use Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels. Samsung designed the wider layout for reading, watching videos, viewing documents, and using several apps at once.
The handset runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy and carries a 4,800 mAh battery. Memory options include 16 GB RAM with 1 TB storage, plus 12 GB RAM with 512 GB or 256 GB storage.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 camera setup includes a 10 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP front camera. Samsung positions the device for quick use on the outer screen before moving to more immersive tasks on the larger inner display.
2. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra expands the Fold concept
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra keeps the tall and slim character of Samsung’s Fold line while increasing display size. It pairs an 8-inch main display with a 6.5-inch cover display, both using Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology.
CNN Indonesia reported that the device uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset. Its 5,000 mAh battery and 45W fast charging place it above the standard Fold8 in battery capacity.
The 200 MP ultrawide camera is the most notable hardware advantage in the new group. The additional telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom further distinguishes the Ultra from the other foldables announced at the same event.
3. Galaxy Z Flip8 remains compact when folded
The Galaxy Z Flip8 retains the clamshell design associated with Samsung’s Flip series. Its folded form is intended to fit more easily into pockets or small bags.
The device has a 6.9-inch main display and a 4.1-inch outer display with support for more apps and Galaxy AI features. Samsung’s upgrades for the Flip8 focus on the outer screen, hinge, performance, and battery endurance.
The Galaxy Z Flip8 is powered by the Exynos 2600 and has a 4,300 mAh battery. It weighs 180 grams and is offered with 12 GB RAM and either 512 GB or 256 GB of storage.
Its camera system consists of a 50 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10 MP selfie camera. The three-device launch gives Samsung distinct foldable options for users seeking either a larger workspace or a more compact form factor.
