Xiaomi 17 Max is shaping up to be one of the most attention-grabbing flagship phones on the horizon, mainly because it pairs a 6.9-inch display with an 8,000mAh battery. That combination is rare in the premium segment, where large screens often come with more modest battery sizes.
The device is reportedly scheduled to debut in China in the second half of May 2026. If the leaks are close to reality, Xiaomi is preparing a model that aims to stand out not just through size, but also through an unusually aggressive hardware package.
A large OLED panel with a very clean front design
Xiaomi 17 Max is said to use a flat 6.9-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. The panel is also expected to use LIPO technology, which should help keep the bezels extremely thin and evenly balanced on all sides.
That approach gives the phone a more modern and streamlined front appearance. Xiaomi is also reportedly skipping the rear secondary display seen on the Pro variant, a move that could leave more internal space for the main components.
Battery capacity becomes the main talking point
The biggest headline around Xiaomi 17 Max is its 8,000mAh battery. If accurate, that would make it the largest battery ever used in Xiaomi’s smartphone lineup.
Charging support is equally notable. The phone is expected to offer 100W wired fast charging and up to 50W wireless charging, giving users two high-speed options for topping up the device.
High-end performance is also part of the plan
For performance, Xiaomi 17 Max is tipped to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The chip is aimed at demanding workloads such as heavy gaming, intensive multitasking, and advanced AI and graphics processing.
That hardware is expected to be paired with LPDDR5x RAM of up to 16GB and UFS 4.1 storage of up to 1TB. On paper, that puts the model firmly in premium flagship territory.
Camera hardware follows a high-resolution route
On the back, Xiaomi appears to be keeping the camera setup focused on high resolution. The main sensor is said to be 200MP, a configuration that should deliver strong detail and more flexibility for cropping without major quality loss.
A 50MP periscope telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom is also mentioned. That lens should help the phone handle distant subjects with better sharpness and stability than a standard telephoto setup.
Premium features round out the package
Xiaomi 17 Max is also expected to include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensor. Other premium touches include symmetrical stereo speakers, water and dust resistance, and a design meant to stay practical despite the large screen size.
Taken together, the display, battery, performance hardware, and camera system suggest Xiaomi is positioning the 17 Max as a serious contender in the 2026 flagship race. With its China launch window set for the second half of May 2026, the phone is already drawing attention as one of Xiaomi’s most ambitious large-format flagships.
