Flipkart Drops iPhone 16 To Rs 58,900, India’s Best-Selling Smartphone Looks Even Stronger

Flipkart’s upcoming Sasa Lele sale is putting the iPhone 16 back in the spotlight, and not only because of the price cut. The device is currently listed at Rs 58,900, down Rs 11,000 from its stated retail price of Rs 69,900, making it one of the most closely watched premium deals ahead of the sale period starting on 9 May.

The timing adds to the appeal. Counterpoint Research has identified the iPhone 16 as the world’s best-selling smartphone in 2025, which gives this discount more weight than a routine price drop.

A flagship that already has strong market pull

A lower price matters more when the product already has broad demand. In this case, the iPhone 16 is not a niche model waiting for attention, but a mainstream flagship with a strong global following.

That position also helps explain why the sale is drawing interest well before it begins. Buyers looking at premium phones often pay attention to a mix of brand reputation, ecosystem support, and long-term value, and the iPhone 16 continues to score well on those fronts.

The discount comes after the launch price has already moved down

The current Flipkart listing looks even more striking when placed against the phone’s original debut price. The iPhone 16 launched in September 2024 at Rs 79,900, which means the present promotional price sits far below its launch level.

Apple’s product cycle also plays a role here. With the iPhone 17 series already in the market, the previous generation is now moving into a more aggressive pricing phase to stay competitive.

Bank offers may reduce the effective cost further

The listed price is only the starting point. Flipkart has not yet revealed the full set of sale-time benefits, so the final purchase amount may change once the promotion goes live.

There is already one clear extra benefit for eligible shoppers. SBI credit card holders can get an instant 10 percent discount, and that offer also applies to EMI transactions.

What the iPhone 16 offers at this price

Even with the discount, the iPhone 16 remains positioned as a premium device with specifications that still look competitive. It uses a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with up to 2000 nits peak brightness in high brightness mode and 1000 nits typical brightness.

Performance comes from Apple’s A18 chip built on a 3nm process. The phone ships with iOS 18 and can be upgraded up to iOS 26.4.2.

Apple offers the model in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options, all paired with 8GB RAM. Its rear camera setup includes a 48-megapixel main camera with sensor-shift OIS and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view, while the front camera is 12 megapixels.

Battery, design, and durability remain part of the appeal

The iPhone 16 is equipped with a 3561mAh battery. It supports PD 2.0 wired fast charging, MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 25W, and 4.5W reverse wired charging.

Apple gives the phone a premium build with glass on the front and back and an aluminum frame. At 170 grams, it also carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.

For shoppers waiting for a flagship deal that still looks current in hardware and software support, the iPhone 16’s current Flipkart pricing makes it a model worth tracking closely as the sale begins on 9 May.
