Apple Shrinks The Dynamic Island On iPhone 18 Pro, Refines Camera Control And Battery Life

A smaller Dynamic Island appears to be the most noticeable change in the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max leaks so far. Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech shared images that he claims show the final design, and the front layout looks more refined rather than dramatically different.

The reported reduction is significant enough to be visible at a glance. Prosser’s images suggest the Dynamic Island shrinks by about 25 percent compared with the iPhone 17 Pro, while the rest of the front side stays largely familiar.

That approach points to a restrained update for Apple’s next Pro models. Instead of a complete redesign, the company appears to be refining the display area while keeping the overall look close to recent iPhones.

Camera changes stay on the list

Beyond the front design, Prosser says the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will include a variable aperture for the main sensor. That detail has also surfaced in earlier leaks, which makes it one of the stronger camera-related rumors attached to the lineup.

A variable aperture would give Apple another way to tune imaging behavior on the main camera. For users, that usually means more flexibility across different lighting conditions, even if the exact implementation is still unconfirmed.

Camera Control may be simplified

Another detail tied to the same leak concerns the Camera Control button. The report says the component will be trimmed back because of budget limitations and will function only as pressure sensitive, without a capacitive element.

That would make the control less complex than expected. It also suggests Apple may be choosing practical adjustments in some areas while reserving major effort for the display and camera system.

Dark Cherry and battery changes

Color options may also expand with Dark Cherry said to join the iPhone 18 Pro family. The same color name has appeared in separate leaks before, and Prosser’s mention adds another layer of consistency to that rumor.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also said to receive a 5,200 mAh battery. If accurate, that would give the largest model a more appealing endurance profile for users who rely heavily on their phones throughout the day.

Connectivity and materials remain part of the picture

Prosser’s leak also points to a new C2 modem for both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The two models are additionally said to support 5G via satellite, which would add another connectivity feature to the next Pro generation.

A separate report says Apple may continue using aluminum for the iPhone 18 series. That means the body material may not change much, even as Apple works on smaller but visible updates in the front design and feature set.

Taken together, the current leaks portray the iPhone 18 Pro lineup as an evolutionary step rather than a major reset. The smaller Dynamic Island, variable aperture main camera, Dark Cherry color, modified Camera Control, and larger Pro Max battery form the clearest picture of where Apple may be heading.
