Oppo’s Reno 16 is starting to come into view, and the first official teaser puts its rear design front and center. The square camera module is the most striking change so far, giving the phone a sharper identity than previous Reno generations.
The company has already opened pre-orders through its official online store in China, which has revealed some of the earliest details about the device. Those listings also point to the available color choices and memory configurations for the Reno 16.
A flatter, more deliberate design direction
The teaser images shared by Oppo on Weibo show a phone with a flatter, cleaner rear panel. Oppo branding sits near the lower middle area of the back, while the Reno logo is placed on the camera module itself.
The sides continue that more angular approach. Power and volume buttons are positioned on the right edge, while the left side carries another button whose purpose has not yet been explained by the company.
A flat metal frame gives the Reno 16 a more rigid and modern appearance. That look sets it apart from several earlier Oppo models that leaned more heavily toward curved edges.
What the body layout reveals
The bottom edge of the device includes a USB Type-C port. It sits between a speaker grille on one side and a SIM tray on the other.
At the top, the phone appears to include a secondary microphone. Oppo has also added two antenna lines on both sides of the handset to support wireless connectivity.
These visible design elements suggest that Oppo is using the Reno 16 to introduce a more assertive visual language. The square camera housing is the clearest sign of that shift and is already defining the phone’s identity ahead of launch.
Colors and memory options already listed
Through the pre-order page, Oppo has confirmed three color options for the Reno 16. The available finishes are Galaxy Purple, Heartbeat, and Moonlight Is Dark, which is the translated version of the Chinese name.
Memory choices are wide-ranging as well. The Reno 16 is listed in 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, 16GB + 256GB, and 16GB + 512GB versions, along with a top configuration featuring 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
That lineup suggests Oppo is preparing the phone for users who want ample room for photos, videos, apps, and work files. The range of options also gives the series a more premium positioning within the Reno family.
Launch timing is already set
Oppo has said the Reno 16 series will launch in China on May 25 at 18:00 local time. The same event will also bring the Oppo Pad 6 and the Oppo Enco Air 5s TWS earbuds.
The Reno 16 lineup is expected to include two models: the Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro. So far, however, most of the public attention has centered on the standard version because that is the one already appearing in teasers and pre-order listings.
The Pro model is also drawing interest, with early expectations placing its starting price at CNY 4,000. Oppo has not confirmed that figure, so it should still be treated as an early estimate rather than an official announcement.
For now, Oppo is revealing the Reno 16 in stages. The company is leaning on design, color options, and storage variants first, while the full specifications and official pricing are still pending the launch event.
