Caviar has turned an unreleased iPhone into a luxury item on sale, even before Apple has officially introduced the iPhone 18 Pro. Instead of offering the phone itself, the company is taking pre-orders for a custom exterior that will be fitted only after the official device becomes available.
The collection is called Royal Colors and covers both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Pre-orders opened on May 20, with prices starting in the five-figure range.
A luxury shell for a phone that does not exist yet
The unusual part of the offer is that buyers are not getting early access to Apple’s final product. Caviar is only selling the premium body modification, which will be installed after Apple releases the iPhone 18 Pro series later this year.
That means customers must still wait for the retail iPhone from Apple first. Once the device is available, Caviar will buy it, remove the standard casing, and replace it with a new combination of materials and design before shipping it to the buyer.
Four themes inspired by history
Royal Colors is built around four different models, each with its own visual identity. Caviar says the designs draw from historical themes and pair luxury materials with distinct motifs.
Imperator uses purple crocodile leather and 24-karat gold, with a design meant to echo Roman togas. King combines white crocodile leather with a silver-toned body and features a fleur-de-lis motif inspired by France. Black Prince takes a darker direction with black leather, a matte titanium upper panel, and black PVD coating, drawing inspiration from medieval armor. Pharaoh uses blue crocodile leather and 24-karat gold, with an Art Deco palm pattern inspired by ancient Egyptian artifacts.
Limited to 18 units each
Production is tightly restricted. Caviar is making only 18 units of each Royal Colors model, a number chosen to match the iPhone 18 name.
Each unit arrives in custom Caviar packaging and includes a signature key and a gold-plated coin. The brand positions the collection as an exclusive collectible rather than a standard phone accessory.
Pricing across the lineup
The starting price for the collection is $10,060, which applies to both Black Prince and Pharaoh. King is priced at $10,200, while Imperator is the most expensive version at $10,340.
All four versions sit far above the cost of a standard iPhone that Apple will eventually sell. That pricing fits Caviar’s long-running approach to luxury smartphone customization.
Not Caviar’s first pre-release stunt
Launching a premium version of a phone before the device itself exists is not new for Caviar. The company has repeatedly unveiled ultra-luxury interpretations of popular smartphones, often using gold, titanium, leather, and other high-end materials.
More recently, Caviar introduced a luxury iPhone 17 Pro collection made with pink gold and diamonds. Before that, it launched a $10,000 iPhone 17 Pro that contained an original iPhone 2G motherboard inside.
