Oppo has started to reveal the Pad 5 Pro, its newest flagship tablet, ahead of the device’s planned debut in China on 21 April. The model is positioned as the successor to the Oppo Pad 4 Pro and now stands at the top of Oppo’s tablet lineup.
Early details from the company point to a large display, premium chipset, strong battery capacity, and several memory options. The package suggests that Oppo is targeting users who want a tablet for entertainment, multitasking, and heavier productivity tasks.
A familiar design with new color options
Official material shows that the Oppo Pad 5 Pro will arrive in three colors: Mocha Brown, Dawn Gold, and Monet Purple. The overall design does not move far from the previous generation, which gives the tablet a familiar look for users who already know Oppo’s Pad Pro family.
The rear camera module still uses an oval, capsule-like shape. That design choice keeps the tablet visually consistent with older models while still giving it a clean flagship appearance.
Oppo also plans to offer several memory configurations. The available variants include 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB, and 16GB/512GB.
These options show that the Pad 5 Pro is built for premium use cases. The higher RAM and storage combinations should help users who run multiple apps at once or store large files, documents, and media content.
Large screen and premium hardware
Leaks from Weibo indicate that the Oppo Pad 5 Pro may use a 13.2-inch LCD panel. That size places it in the large-tablet category and makes it suitable for streaming, mobile work, and split-screen multitasking.
The same reports suggest that Oppo will equip the tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. If confirmed, that would give the device high-end performance for demanding tasks, including gaming and light content processing.
Battery life also looks like one of the main selling points. The Pad 5 Pro is rumored to carry a 13,380mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.
That battery size is larger than the previous generation, which should help the tablet last longer during extended use. A fast-charging system also matters for a device with a big screen, since users will likely expect less downtime between sessions.
Thin body, heavier build, stronger multimedia focus
Despite the large battery, the tablet is said to remain relatively slim at around 5.94 mm. Its weight is reportedly 672 grams, which reflects the trade-off that often comes with a larger battery and bigger display.
Audio support may also be a major focus. The leak points to an eight-speaker setup, which would likely improve movie playback, gaming, and online meetings.
The camera system is expected to stay practical rather than overly ambitious. Reports mention a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera, which should be enough for video calls and basic photo capture.
What Oppo is planning next
Oppo is also preparing to launch the Pad Mini alongside the Pad 5 Pro on 21 April in China. The Mini is expected to offer a smaller form factor while still aiming at the premium segment.
That dual-tablet launch shows Oppo’s intention to strengthen its position in the tablet market from two angles. The Pad 5 Pro will serve as the flagship model, while the Pad Mini should appeal to users who prefer something more compact and portable.
For now, the Pad 5 Pro looks like a tablet built around three core strengths: a 13.2-inch display, flagship-level performance, and a large battery. The combination of up to 16GB RAM, 512GB storage, and a possible eight-speaker audio system makes it one of Oppo’s most ambitious tablets so far, even as some of the key specifications remain based on leaks ahead of the official reveal.
