Budget Poco Buyers in India Face Higher Entry Prices as C85 5G and C81 Models Rise

Price-sensitive buyers in India now have one more reason to check a Poco price tag before heading to checkout. Several models in the brand’s C series have quietly become more expensive, with increases reaching as much as Rs 1.000.

The revised pricing affects the Poco C85 5G, Poco C81x, and Poco C81. According to tipster Ahsan Kharbai on X, Poco had already sent internal communication to retail partners about the adjustment, and the new rates took effect on 1 June, 2025.

Which models are affected

The steepest change is not on the C85 5G, but on the lower-end C81 lineup. The Poco C81x with 3 GB + 64 GB storage now costs Rs 10.999, up from Rs 9.999.

The Poco C81 with 4 GB + 64 GB has also moved up by Rs 1.000. Its new price is Rs 11.999, compared with the earlier Rs 10.999.

C85 5G sees a uniform hike across all variants

Poco has also raised every version of the C85 5G by Rs 500. The 4 GB + 128 GB variant is now priced at Rs 15.499, up from Rs 14.999.

The 6 GB + 128 GB model now sells for Rs 16.999, compared with Rs 16.499 earlier. The top-end 8 GB + 128 GB version has climbed to Rs 18.499 from Rs 17.999.

What this means for the entry-level market

These are not small changes for phones that were positioned as affordable options. The biggest impact falls on models that previously sat below Rs 11.000, where a Rs 1.000 jump can quickly alter buying decisions.

Checks in the market also show the new pricing is already active, so the updated tags are not just planned revisions. Buyers in India looking at these models now need to budget for the higher rates.

Part of a wider pricing shift

Poco’s move also fits into a broader pattern in India’s smartphone market. Redmi Note 15 and Redmi 15 were previously reported to have received price adjustments as well.

That wider backdrop suggests the change is not isolated. Over the past few months, several brands have reportedly revised prices or reduced discounts, trimming some of the appeal that usually defines the entry-level segment.

One factor linked to the pressure is the ongoing RAM shortage, which is said to be getting worse. That supply strain appears to be feeding through to retail pricing across the market.

For now, the main takeaway is straightforward: Poco’s C85 5G, C81x, and C81 are no longer at their earlier price points. Shoppers comparing budget phones in India may need to revisit their shortlist, especially if they were planning to buy one of these models at the old rates.
