Oppo Bubbles Arrives With Reno 16, A Tiny Round Screen That Reinvents Selfie Framing

A small circular accessory is set to join Oppo’s Reno 16 series launch in China next week, and it is not being treated as a simple add-on. Oppo Bubbles is designed as a wireless magnetic screen accessory that can attach to the back of a phone and act as a separate display for camera use and other tasks.

The timing is already fixed. Oppo’s official China microsite says Bubbles will be introduced alongside the Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro on 25 May 2026 at 6:00 PM CST.

A mini display built around camera use

At the center of the product is an AMOLED panel shaped like a circle. Oppo positions it as a compact secondary screen that can stay attached to a phone and still be useful for everyday use.

Its most obvious role is selfie support. By placing the accessory on the back of the phone, users can view the main camera output through the small display instead of relying on the phone screen alone.

That same setup also works as a wireless preview tool for shooting from a distance. Oppo says the accessory supports wireless shooting preview from up to 10 meters through Bluetooth.

More than a camera mirror

Bubbles is not limited to framing photos. Oppo also says the display can show static wallpapers and animations, including photos pulled directly from the gallery.

That gives the accessory a broader role as a portable secondary screen rather than a single-purpose photography tool. The idea is to make it useful both during shooting and when used for visual customization.

The company has also added a customizable dedicated button with one-tap support. It can be used for manual photo capture, as a shutter button, to display an image, or to switch between wallpapers.

Slim hardware, built for portability

Oppo has kept the physical design minimal. The accessory measures just 7 mm thick and weighs 27.5 grams, which should make it easy to carry and attach without adding much bulk.

Inside, Oppo includes a 550mAh battery that supports the display function and Bluetooth connection. That battery is the main power source when the accessory is used for remote preview and other wireless tasks.

The combination of a magnetic attachment, a circular AMOLED screen, and a physical control button shows that Oppo wants Bubbles to feel more practical than a standard camera accessory.

What is still unclear

Even with launch details now public, one important point remains unanswered. Oppo has not said whether Bubbles will work only with the Reno 16 series or with a wider range of Oppo smartphones.

That compatibility question will matter for how useful the accessory becomes outside the Reno 16 launch itself. For now, Oppo has only confirmed that Bubbles will appear together with the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro in China, with the full details likely to surface at the event.
