FFALCON Brings 300Hz Gaming To Budget, 599 Yuan Monitor Targets Esports Players

A 300Hz gaming monitor is no longer reserved for premium setups. FFALCON, TCL’s monitor brand, is bringing that level of speed into the budget segment with the Thunderobot Q5AD YYDS Edition, which launches in China at an introductory price of 599 yuan.

The model is aimed squarely at competitive players who care more about frame pacing and responsiveness than large-format extras. It uses a 24.5-inch 1080p display, a familiar size and resolution combination in esports because it is easier to drive at very high frame rates.

Built for fast competitive play

Thunderobot equips the monitor with a CSOT Fast IPS panel. The panel runs at a native 280Hz refresh rate and can be overclocked to 300Hz through DisplayPort.

The company also lists a 1ms gray-to-gray response time. To keep motion clearer during rapid gameplay, the monitor includes overdrive settings and an MPRT-Plus blur reduction mode.

Support for AMD FreeSync Premium is included, along with Nvidia G-Sync compatibility. Those features are meant to reduce screen tearing when games move quickly.

Gaming features without the premium price

Despite its low pricing, the Q5AD YYDS Edition does not ignore color performance. Thunderobot says the panel supports 10-bit color through an 8-bit + FRC scheme.

The claimed color coverage reaches 99% sRGB and 93% DCI-P3. Thunderobot also says the display is factory calibrated with Delta E below 2, which suggests it should arrive with solid color accuracy out of the box.

Peak brightness is rated at 400 nits. The monitor also carries basic HDR400 support, although its main selling point remains high-speed gaming rather than HDR performance.

Practical design for a crowded desk

Visually, the monitor keeps a restrained look. Its small hexagonal base is designed to save desk space and leave more room for large mousepads and wide mouse movements.

The stand adjustments are limited. Tilt is available from -5 degrees to 15 degrees, but there is no height adjustment and no pivot function.

For longer sessions, Thunderobot includes hardware-level low blue light support. DC dimming is also onboard to help reduce screen flicker.

Ports and controls stay focused on essentials

Connectivity is simple but covers the basics. The monitor offers one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0, and one 3.5mm headphone jack.

DisplayPort 1.4 is the connection needed to unlock the full 300Hz mode. HDMI 2.0 is limited to 240Hz instead.

Menu navigation is handled through a five-way joystick on the back of the monitor. That approach is common on gaming displays because it is faster and easier to use than separate buttons.

The overall strategy is clear: keep the extras to a minimum and concentrate on the features competitive players value most. In a market where price sensitivity is high, a 1080p monitor with 300Hz potential at 599 yuan is likely to draw attention.

Thunderobot has also launched the 25Q5A gaming monitor, which comes with a 1080p 300Hz Mini LED panel. That release suggests the brand is pushing more aggressively into high-performance gaming displays.
