Samsung’s Android 17 rollout is shaping up to be broad, but it will not reach every Galaxy device at the same speed. One UI 9 is expected to bring the update to a wide mix of flagships, foldables, mid-range phones, and even entry-level models, with Samsung already having unveiled the first beta in mid-May.
The biggest headline for many users is simple: a long list of Galaxy devices still remains in line for a major Android upgrade. That includes older premium phones such as the Galaxy S23 series, along with newer models and budget phones like the Galaxy A06 5G.
Flagships remain firmly in the upgrade path
Samsung’s software support policy gives some Galaxy devices as many as seven years of Android updates, depending on the category. Premium models tend to benefit the most from that approach because they usually come with faster chips, more RAM, and larger storage.
The Galaxy S26 series stands out as the clearest example of that long support window. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 are all expected to receive Android 17 as part of that extended roadmap.
Support does not stop there. Samsung’s list also includes the Galaxy S25 Ultra, S25 Plus, S25, S25 Edge, and S25 FE, followed by the Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24 Plus, S24, and S24 FE. Even the Galaxy S23 Ultra, S23 Plus, S23, and S23 FE are still slated to get Android 17, despite the series first arriving in 2023 and having a four-year major Android release window.
Foldables and premium devices also line up for One UI 9
The foldable category is covered as well. Samsung’s expected Android 17 recipients include the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Fold 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Fold Special Edition, plus the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Z Flip 6, and Z Flip 5.
That puts a large portion of Samsung’s current high-end lineup on the same software track, even though the rollout order will still depend on device readiness. The company has not published a formal schedule for each model, so some phones will likely receive the update earlier than others.
Mid-range Galaxy phones get a wide berth too
Samsung is also extending Android 17 to many Galaxy A, Galaxy M, Galaxy F, and Galaxy XCover devices bought within the last three years. In practice, that means the update is not limited to flagship buyers, and a large share of newer mainstream Galaxy owners will still be eligible.
The Galaxy A family alone covers a long list of models. Devices named in the update plan include the A57 5G, A56 5G, A55 5G, A54 5G, A37 5G, A36 5G, A35 5G, A34 5G, A26 5G, A25 5G, A24, A17 5G, A17 4G, A16 5G, A16 4G, A15 5G, A15 4G, A07 5G, A07 4G, and A06 5G.
That list makes the Galaxy A06 5G one of the lowest-cost devices still positioned to receive Android 17. It also shows how far Samsung’s software support now stretches across its mainstream portfolio.
Galaxy M, Galaxy F, and tablets are included
Samsung’s Galaxy M lineup is also represented. The expected recipients are the M56 5G, M55s 5G, M55 5G, M54 5G, M36 5G, M34 5G, M17 5G, M17e 5G, M16 5G, M15 5G, M07, and M06 5G.
The Galaxy F family follows a similar pattern, with the F70e 5G, F56 5G, F55 5G, F54 5G, F36 5G, F34 5G, F17 5G, F16 5G, F15 5G, F07 5G, and F06 5G all listed for Android 17 support. Samsung has also included several Galaxy Tab models, especially Galaxy Tab S flagship tablets and more affordable Galaxy Tab A devices released in 2023 and later.
For now, the company has only confirmed the beta stage of One UI 9 and has not shared a device-by-device launch calendar. That leaves the Galaxy S26 series as the most likely first wave, while the rest of the eligible Galaxy lineup waits for Samsung to finish preparing each model.
