Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ Benchmark Leak Hints at Dimensity 8500 Power Ahead of India Launch

Motorola’s upcoming Edge 70 Pro+ is drawing attention before its official India debut, and the main reason is not the design this time. A Geekbench appearance has pointed to a MediaTek chipset family, raising expectations that the phone could arrive with a noticeable performance jump.

The benchmark listing has not been fully explicit about the commercial name of the chip, but the hardware identity shown as MT6899 has been linked to MediaTek Dimensity 8500. That detail matters because Motorola has not yet formally confirmed the SoC, even though it has already begun shaping interest with teasers about the design, color options, and camera setup.

Early benchmark clues point to Dimensity 8500

Geekbench shows the Edge 70 Pro+ using a MediaTek chip with four efficiency cores clocked at 2.20GHz, three performance cores at 3.20GHz, and one prime core reaching 3.40GHz. The same listing also identifies the ARM Mali-G720 MC8 GPU as the graphics partner.

If the MT6899 identification is correct, the phone would land in a strong class for both everyday use and heavier workloads. The chip is also said to appear in other devices, including the Oppo Reno 16, which adds more weight to the speculation around Motorola’s next premium model.

What the benchmark reveals about memory and software

Geekbench also records at least 11.18GB of RAM on the device. That amount is typically positioned as 12GB RAM in official product listings.

The same test produced scores of 1,722 in single-core and 5,623 in multi-core performance. Those numbers are only an early snapshot rather than a final commercial result, but they still offer a useful picture of the phone’s computing headroom.

Android 16 appears in the benchmark listing as well. That gives the Edge 70 Pro+ another point of interest for buyers who want a premium phone running the newest Android version.

Camera hardware is already part of the pitch

Motorola has not limited the buildup to performance alone. The company has already confirmed a triple rear camera system for the Edge 70 Pro+.

The main camera is a 50-megapixel unit with a Sony LYT-710 sensor and 3.5-degree optical image stabilisation. The rear setup also includes a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera that supports up to 50x digital zoom.

That combination places the Edge 70 Pro+ in a serious premium position on the imaging side. Motorola appears to be pushing both performance and photography as parallel strengths rather than relying on one feature area.

Three Pantone colors, three different finishes

The India version of the Edge 70 Pro+ will arrive in three Pantone shades: Chicory Coffee, Stormy Sea, and Zinfandel. Each one uses a distinct finish on the back panel.

Pantone Chicory Coffee comes with a sculpted wood finish. Pantone Stormy Sea uses a twill-inspired finish, while Pantone Zinfandel features a satin-luxe finish.

Those choices give the phone a more varied and premium visual identity. Motorola seems intent on making the device stand out not only through specs, but also through materials and surface treatment.

Launch is already close

Motorola has confirmed that the Edge 70 Pro+ will launch in India on 4 June. The timing makes the benchmark appearance especially relevant, since it arrives only days before the official reveal.

The phone will be sold through Flipkart, Motorola India’s online store, and offline retail channels. That broad distribution suggests Motorola is preparing for immediate availability across multiple sales paths.

With the launch now close, the main unresolved detail is the chipset confirmation. If the MT6899 listing does translate to Dimensity 8500, the Edge 70 Pro+ is shaping up as a premium phone that combines strong performance, a high-end camera setup, and a distinctive design approach.
