Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ Keeps Things Steady, Led by a 50MP Telephoto Camera

Motorola’s Edge 70 Pro+ arrives in India with a familiar formula, but one that is built around a very specific selling point: a 50MP telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom. Instead of trying to reinvent the package, Motorola has leaned on a proven configuration and made the camera system the main reason to pay attention.

That approach is especially noticeable because every rear camera on the phone carries a 50MP resolution. The setup is led by the 50MP telephoto unit with an 81mm equivalent focal length, which gives the device a stronger zoom story than many rivals in the same price segment.

A camera-first hardware package

The rear system also includes a 50MP main camera using Sony’s LYTIA-710 sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS. Alongside it sits a 50MP ultrawide camera, creating a triple-camera arrangement where resolution is kept consistent across the back.

Motorola has not stopped at the rear setup. The front camera is also a 50MP unit, placed inside a punch-hole cutout, which suggests the company is treating both selfie and rear shooting as headline features.

Display and design cues for a premium audience

Beyond imaging, the phone is built around a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. Motorola says the panel is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i and can reach a local peak brightness of up to 5,200 nits.

Those numbers place the Edge 70 Pro+ firmly in premium territory, at least on paper. The large panel, fast refresh rate, and high brightness claim give the device a specification sheet that extends beyond camera marketing.

New MediaTek chip, familiar memory configuration

Power comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme, paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The hardware combination is aimed at keeping everyday performance, multitasking, and camera processing smooth.

Motorola is only offering one memory variant, which keeps the lineup simple. That may limit choice, but it also makes the positioning of the device straightforward.

Big battery, fast charging, and stronger protection

The battery is another major part of the pitch. Motorola has fitted a 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery, supported by 90W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.

The company also claims IP68 and IP69 certification for dust and water resistance. In practical terms, that puts the phone among the more protected options in its class.

Software support and launch details

On the software side, the Edge 70 Pro+ runs Hello UI based on Android 16 and includes Moto AI 2.0. Motorola says the phone will receive three major Android updates and five years of security updates.

In India, the only available configuration is the 12GB/256GB model, priced at INR 47,999. Sales begin on 11 June through Motorola’s official online store and retail partners, while color options include Pantone Chicory Coffee, Pantone Zinfandel, and Pantone Stormy Sea.
