Samsung Galaxy A27 Steps Into View With 5G, While Redmi 17 4G Expands Memory Options

Two upcoming phones from Samsung and Redmi have taken a step closer to launch after appearing in Singapore’s IMDA certification database. The listing does not reveal everything, but it is often a strong sign that a device is moving into the final stage before commercial release.

The models in question are the Samsung Galaxy A27 and Redmi 17 4G. Their appearance in the regulator’s documents makes their direction more visible, even though neither phone has been officially announced yet.

Galaxy A27 is shaping up as a 5G mid-ranger

The Galaxy A27 listing points to dual-SIM support, 5G, NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. That combination does not expose the full hardware picture, but it already places the phone in a mid-range category with fairly complete connectivity.

Those details also line up with earlier leaks. The Galaxy A27 had previously surfaced in two sets of leaked renders and later appeared in Geekbench’s database.

Geekbench identified the device as using the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. It was also listed with 6GB of RAM, which suggests Samsung is preparing a model that balances modern features with modest hardware positioning.

NFC is another notable part of the certification result. In the mid-range segment, it remains relevant for digital payments and accessory connections, making it a useful addition rather than a secondary feature.

Redmi 17 4G takes a broader variant strategy

Redmi 17 4G has also passed IMDA certification, with the document showing Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC support. The phone is drawing attention not only because of the certification itself, but also because Redmi appears to be skipping the number 16.

That puts Redmi 17 4G in line as the direct successor to Redmi 15 4G. While IMDA does not disclose many technical specifics, earlier FCC certification offered a clearer look at the memory strategy behind the phone.

According to that listing, Redmi 17 4G is set to arrive in six RAM and storage combinations. The variants include 4/128GB, 6/128GB, 6/256GB, 6/512GB, 8/256GB, and 8/512GB.

This wide spread of options suggests Redmi is aiming to cover a larger range of users within a single lineup. It also gives the phone a different identity from the Galaxy A27, which is currently leaning more on its network and chipset profile than on memory variety.

What the certification trail tells us

Regulatory certifications rarely reveal a full spec sheet, but they often mark the point where launch plans become harder to ignore. In this case, IMDA adds another layer to the existing leaks and benchmark traces already tied to both phones.

For the Galaxy A27, the picture is becoming clearer as a 5G device with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and 6GB RAM. For Redmi 17 4G, the most visible strength so far is its range of memory configurations, backed by confirmed NFC, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth support.

Some details are still missing, especially for Redmi 17 4G, including the chipset, display, battery, and camera. Even so, the combination of IMDA and FCC certifications shows that Redmi is actively preparing the model for release.

Samsung and Redmi are now moving in different directions with these two phones. One is building toward a more defined 5G mid-range profile, while the other is focusing on broad configuration choices in the 4G segment.
