The next ultra-premium battle in Android camera phones is starting to split into two very different strategies. On one side, OPPO’s Find X10 Ultra is shaping up as the more aggressive contender, while Vivo’s X500 Ultra is now said to be stepping back from the 10x telephoto direction.
That contrast matters because zoom capability has become one of the clearest ways flagship phones try to stand apart. If the latest information holds, OPPO is preparing a package that pushes long-range photography harder than most rivals, while Vivo appears to be taking the safer route.
OPPO’s focus is clear
The biggest talking point around Find X10 Ultra is its camera setup. The device is said to combine dual periscope cameras with a 10x super telephoto lens, a mix that would place it in a very strong position among high-end Android phones.
That kind of hardware points to a deliberate push toward extreme zoom as a core identity for the device. Rather than treating zoom as a secondary feature, OPPO seems ready to make it one of the main reasons to pay attention to the next Ultra model.
A premium spec sheet beyond imaging
The camera system is not the only part of the Find X10 Ultra that sounds ambitious. Digital Chat Station also mentioned a 6.89-inch 2K LTPO OLED display, a 7,000mAh+ battery, and a Samsung HPA LOFIC 200MP main sensor.
Taken together, those details suggest a flagship built to compete on more than photography alone. The device appears aimed at users who expect a full premium package, with large battery capacity and a high-end display to match the imaging hardware.
Ultra positioning signals a top-tier role
The Find X10 Ultra is expected to arrive in the first half of 2027. Its timing is said to follow the rest of the X10 lineup, which places the Ultra model at the top of the family rather than as a minor extension.
That positioning makes the phone easier to read as OPPO’s showcase device for the series. The combination of dual periscope cameras and a 10x super telephoto lens reinforces that role, especially in a market where zoom performance has become a major headline feature.
Vivo takes a different path
Vivo’s X500 Ultra is headed in a more cautious direction. The phone was reportedly tested with a 10x telephoto camera, but the latest prototype has now been canceled.
There is still mention of Vivo evaluating a 10x telephoto solution, yet the newer signs point away from a major leap. Instead of chasing the extreme zoom route, Vivo now appears ready to stay closer to its existing formula.
What Vivo is expected to keep
That formula centers on a 200MP periscope camera paired with ISZ, or In-Sensor Zoom. This approach is viewed as more conservative, but it also builds on a path Vivo has already been following.
Compared with the X300 Ultra, which offers around 3.7x optical zoom through a single 200MP periscope, the shift is notable for what it does not include. The 10x telephoto experiment no longer looks set to define the X500 Ultra.
The competition is tilting
The result is a sharper divide between the two brands. OPPO is leaning into more advanced zoom hardware, while Vivo is choosing to preserve a more established periscope and ISZ setup.
That split could matter when the next wave of flagship phones reaches the market. For now, OPPO Find X10 Ultra looks increasingly difficult to ignore, while Vivo X500 Ultra appears to be moving away from the 10x telephoto ambition that had once seemed possible.
