Xiaomi 17T Gets A Major Battery Boost In China, Now Matches The Pro At 7,000mAh

Xiaomi’s China-exclusive 17T update puts the standard model in an unusually strong position. The biggest change is not a new camera or a faster chip, but a battery increase to 7,000mAh that brings it level with the Xiaomi 17T Pro in that market.

That move matters because Xiaomi kept the charging speed at 67W. For buyers who care most about endurance, the regular 17T now looks harder to overlook without forcing major compromises elsewhere in the lineup.

A bigger battery becomes the main talking point

The China version of the Xiaomi 17T gains 500mAh over the global model launched last month. With a 7,000mAh Si/C battery, it enters a more aggressive class of devices when it comes to stamina.

What makes the change notable is how focused it is. Xiaomi did not reshape the entire phone for China, and the core identity of the series remains intact.

The standard model still keeps a premium setup

The Xiaomi 17T is not positioned as a stripped-down device. It uses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, which keeps it firmly in modern flagship territory.

Performance comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra, paired with 12GB of RAM and storage of up to 512GB. That combination gives the phone enough room to support its larger battery without changing the rest of its formula too heavily.

Cameras remain one of its strongest points

The rear camera system also helps the 17T stand out. Xiaomi equips it with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP periscope camera with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens.

That setup means the regular model is not relying on battery life alone to justify itself. The periscope lens, in particular, keeps the 17T competitive and gives it a more ambitious profile than many standard-tier phones.

The Pro model still sits at the top

The Xiaomi 17T Pro remains the more capable device in the series. It uses a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, which gives it a clear advantage in display smoothness.

It also runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 and goes up to 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. In China, that 16GB RAM option is one of the new additions for the Pro model.

Where the Pro pulls ahead

Camera hardware is another area where the Pro keeps its lead. Xiaomi gives it a larger 1/1.31-inch main sensor, and the phone also supports 8K video recording.

Those upgrades keep the Pro at the top of the range even though the standard 17T now matches it in battery capacity. The split between the two models is still clear, but the gap has narrowed in a way that consumers will notice immediately.

Pricing in China

The Xiaomi 17T starts at CNY 2,999 for the 12/256GB version. The 12/512GB configuration is priced at CNY 3,499.

For the Xiaomi 17T Pro, pricing begins at CNY 3,999 for the 12/256GB model. The top 16/512GB variant is listed at CNY 4,799.

A targeted change rather than a full redesign

The China launch shows a careful strategy from Xiaomi. The company kept the broader specifications close to the international versions, while making a few market-specific adjustments that are easy to understand.

The result is a standard 17T that now stands out much more clearly, especially for users who value battery life above all else. With a 7,000mAh battery, 67W charging, a 120Hz AMOLED panel, and a periscope camera, the regular model now feels far less easy to dismiss.
