Motorola is sharpening its pitch in the premium mid-range segment with a device that leans heavily on display speed, battery size, and camera versatility. The Edge 70 Pro+ is built around a 6.8-inch curved Extreme AMOLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 6,500mAh battery, two specifications that immediately place it among the most attention-grabbing phones in its class.
The phone is positioned in India at around Rs 45,000, with the 12GB/256GB version listed at Rs 47,999. That pricing puts it in direct competition with a crowded field, but Motorola has added several premium touches that make the device stand out beyond its headline numbers.
A display built for speed and brightness
The Edge 70 Pro+ uses a 1.5K panel with a resolution of 1,272 x 2,772 pixels and a density of 450 PPI. Motorola says the screen can reach up to 5,200 nits of peak brightness, while Water Touch support is included to keep the display responsive even when fingers are wet or damp.
Protection is also part of the package. The phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, MIL-810H certification, and IP68/IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Same core platform, more complete feature set
Under the hood, the Edge 70 Pro+ runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme octa-core chipset, which is clocked up to 3.4GHz. That is the same chip used in the Edge 70 Pro, so the upgrade here is less about raw platform change and more about the added features around it.
Motorola pairs the processor with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. A 4,600mm2 vapour chamber is included for thermal control, and the phone ships with Hello UI based on Android 16. Motorola also promises up to three OS upgrades and up to five years of security patches.
Three 50MP cameras, including a periscope telephoto
Camera hardware is one of the clearest differences between this model and the regular Edge 70 Pro. The Edge 70 Pro+ carries three 50MP rear cameras, led by a Sony LYT-710 main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS.
The setup also includes a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 112-degree field of view and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and up to 50x digital zoom. For video, the rear camera system supports up to 4K HDR10+ recording at 60fps.
On the front, Motorola has fitted a 50MP selfie camera with an f/1.9 aperture and autofocus.
Big battery, broad charging support
The other major headline is the 6,500mAh silicon-carbon battery. Motorola is clearly aiming for a phone that can handle heavy daily use and media consumption without forcing users to think about charging too often.
Charging options are extensive as well. The Edge 70 Pro+ supports 90W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, 10W reverse wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging over cable.
How it fits into Motorola’s lineup
Within Motorola’s own family, the Edge 70 Pro+ sits above the Edge 70 Pro. The cheaper model costs Rs 39,999, but it does not include the telephoto lens or wireless charging, even though much of the underlying hardware remains similar.
Motorola will offer the Edge 70 Pro+ in three colors: PANTONE Chicory Coffee, PANTONE Zinfandel, and PANTONE Stormy Sea. Sales are scheduled to begin on June 11 through Motorola India’s official website and Flipkart.
For buyers in India, the phone will face competition from names such as Nothing Phone 4a Pro, iQOO 15R, and OnePlus Nord 6. With a 144Hz AMOLED display, a 6,500mAh battery, a periscope telephoto camera, and a more complete charging setup, Motorola is clearly trying to give the Edge 70 Pro+ a stronger identity in a tightly packed segment.
