Oppo is widening the reach of ColorOS 16 with a set of new AI features designed to make daily smartphone use faster, cleaner, and more practical. The update also strengthens cross-device connectivity, signaling a stronger push toward a more connected mobile ecosystem.
Rather than treating AI as a decorative add-on, Oppo is placing it at the center of everyday tasks. The software now reaches into app organization, document scanning, translation, visual content editing, and even the way users see key updates on the lock screen.
AI now handles more routine work
One of the most notable additions is AI Grouping, which automatically sorts apps by category, color, or past usage patterns. That makes the home screen easier to manage and reduces the need for manual folder arrangement.
ColorOS 16 also introduces AI Menu Translation, a feature built for travel and dining situations. It can translate menus instantly and generate AI-based visual references, helping users understand unfamiliar dishes with less guesswork.
For document handling, Oppo has added AI Scan. The feature detects documents automatically, improves scan quality, and optimizes the result before the file is saved.
Live Space brings a more active lock screen
The update also changes the feel of the interface through Live Space, which gives the lock screen a more dynamic appearance with smoother animation. Important information is shown in real time through capsule-style notifications.
That design makes it easier to monitor updates without opening each app one by one. Oppo says the approach is meant to balance fast access to information with a comfortable visual experience throughout the day.
Cross-device sharing becomes more seamless
On the ecosystem side, Oppo is expanding O+ Connect to improve file transfer and connectivity between Oppo devices and Apple devices. The feature is aimed at users who regularly move between different operating systems.
By reducing reliance on third-party apps or older transfer methods, the system creates a smoother workflow across devices. It is a clear sign that Oppo is leaning harder into interoperability as part of the ColorOS experience.
Editing tools also get a boost
ColorOS 16 is not limited to productivity. Oppo is also updating AI Popout with 4K Motion Collage Popout, a feature that lets users edit and arrange moving visual elements directly on the phone.
That makes the device more capable as a lightweight creative tool, especially for users who frequently produce visual content. The process is designed to be more compact and less dependent on external editing apps.
Oppo also says the broader update includes performance optimization for multitasking, communication, and daily activity management. The combination of AI tools, visual refinement, and faster cross-device connections positions ColorOS 16 as a more complete software layer.
Rollout starts with flagship models
The first devices to receive the update are the Oppo Find X9 Ultra and Oppo Find X9s, before the rollout expands further. Oppo says distribution will continue gradually to reach more models over time.
Beyond those flagship phones, the update is also planned for the Oppo Find X9, Find X8, Reno15, and Reno14 series. The broader rollout shows Oppo’s intention to extend AI-driven software improvements across a wider part of its lineup.
