The move comes after XLSMART was officially formed in April 2025 through the merger of XL Axiata and Smartfren. Since then, the company has been accelerating network and service transformation to make SMARTFREN more relevant to current digital needs.

Under the “Jagoan Sinyal Se-Indonesia” spirit, SMARTFREN is emphasizing wider, more stable, and more comfortable connectivity. XLSMART is also pushing 4G network reinforcement, 5G Blanket development in several strategic cities, and the Kuota Nonstop service, which remains active even after the main quota runs out.
The SMARTFREN network now reaches more than 400 cities and thousands of subdistricts across Indonesia. That footprint has become a key asset as the company links a telecommunications brand with a large-scale running event aimed at urban communities and sports enthusiasts.
A race built to showcase the message
SMARTFREN RUN 2026 will take place on July 5, 2026, with a target of 7,500 runners. Organizers have prepared three race categories: 5K, 10K, and Half Marathon 21K.
Astiyanto Tri Muktiwibowo, Group Head Marketing Segment SMARTFREN, said the run is more than a sports event. He described it as part of SMARTFREN’s commitment to stay closer to customers and communities.
He added that the growing enthusiasm from participants each year shows that SMARTFREN RUN has become one of the lifestyle events most anticipated by urban audiences and running communities in Indonesia. For that reason, the organizer wants to deliver a high-standard race that prioritizes safety, comfort, and the best possible experience for all participants.
Certified standards and prize offerings
SMARTFREN RUN Jakarta 2026 is being held under the technical supervision and standards of the Indonesian Athletics Association, PASI. The event has also received a World Athletics Label for racecourse certification, meeting global standards for a course certified by World Athletics.
In technical, safety, and competition quality terms, the event is also curated by the Executive Board of PASI with sanctioned by PB PASI status. That recognition places SMARTFREN RUN Jakarta 2026 among races that are not only lively, but also carefully organized.
Beyond the race itself, the organizer is preparing supporting activities to create a more complete experience for participants and visitors. The event also offers a total podium prize pool of Rp300 million for winners across various categories.
Rounding out the event, there will be door prizes worth hundreds of millions of rupiah. With its participant scale, race standards, and community approach, SMARTFREN RUN 2026 has become one of XLSMART’s clearest demonstrations that network expansion and brand closeness can move forward together.
