Huawei is reportedly testing a slim candybar phone that aims to stand out in a market where flagship designs often look increasingly similar. The device is said to pair a wider-than-usual body with a 2K display in a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving the company a chance to try a premium format that feels different from the mainstream.
The most notable part of the leak is not just the screen, but the direction Huawei appears to be taking with the whole device. Early reports suggest the phone could arrive after the Huawei Mate 90 series, with a launch window expected toward the end of 2026.
A Wider Screen in a Slim Body
According to information circulating from Gizmochina and leaker Digital Chat Station, the prototype is built around a display that makes the handset feel broader than the typical premium candybar phone. The 16:10 ratio and 2K resolution are the defining traits that separate it from more familiar flagship layouts.
Digital Chat Station also said the prototype looks thin and light despite carrying a large screen. That combination is especially important in a category where added display size often comes at the expense of portability and comfort.
Camera Hardware Aimed at the Top End
Huawei is also said to be pushing hard on imaging, which remains one of its strongest selling points in the premium segment. The rumored setup includes a 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.3-inch sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, and a multispectral sensor.
If that configuration reaches the final product, it would place the phone among Huawei’s more ambitious photography-focused devices. It also suggests the company wants the new model to compete on camera hardware as much as on design.
Kirin 9000 and a 7,000 mAh Battery
On the performance side, the phone is expected to use a Kirin 9000-series chip. The same leak points to a 7,000 mAh battery, a capacity that would make the device especially interesting for a premium phone focused on endurance.
Even so, the project is still under development, which means the final specifications may change before the official unveiling. For now, the details remain early-stage information rather than confirmed launch specs.
Huawei’s Broader Premium Strategy
The reported phone fits into Huawei’s recent habit of experimenting with form factors that challenge the usual smartphone formula. The company previously helped popularize foldables with wider screens, a trend that other brands such as Xiaomi and Apple were later said to follow.
This time, Huawei appears to be trying a similar idea in a candybar form, but with a slimmer body, a wider screen, and premium-grade hardware. If the leaked concept survives into production, it could become one of the most distinctive Huawei phones in the high-end segment.
