HyperX Omen 15 Feels More Serious, Brighter Screen And Faster Performance Stand Out

HP appears to be making a more convincing push in gaming laptops with the HyperX Omen 15. The machine arrives with a more mature design, stronger cooling, and hardware that is positioned aggressively for its class.

At a price of Rp25.3 million, the laptop is aimed at users who want serious gaming performance without giving up display quality or build refinement. The combination of a high-end Intel HX processor, RTX graphics, and a 2.5K 180Hz panel gives it a much sharper identity than many midrange gaming laptops.

Premium feel with a more practical body

HP has reshaped the outside of the HyperX Omen 15 in a notable way. The 15.3-inch laptop now looks more compact and less plain than the previous generation.

The material mix also helps the device feel more upscale. The deck uses solid metal, while the outer shell uses premium polycarbonate for a sturdier hand feel.

Cooling design has also been adjusted with more attention to durability. The rear exhaust is pushed farther back so hot air is less likely to hit the display hinge directly.

Hardware built for heavy workloads

Inside, the HyperX Omen 15 uses an Intel Core i7-14650HX with 16 cores and 24 threads, paired with 24 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM. Storage is handled by a 1 TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD that is claimed to deliver read speeds in the 7,000 MBps range.

Graphics are handled by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU with 8 GB of dedicated VRAM. That combination makes the laptop feel closer to a desktop-style setup than a typical thin gaming notebook.

The display is one of its biggest strengths. HP uses a 2.5K, or WQXGA, panel with a 180Hz refresh rate, up to 500 nits of brightness, and 100% sRGB coverage.

Performance that holds up in real tests

Synthetic testing shows the processor is not just strong on paper. In Cinebench R23 Multi Core, the Core i7-14650HX scored 22,331 points.

That level of performance puts it in direct competition with newer Intel Core Ultra processors that lean more heavily on AI efficiency. In actual gaming use, the laptop remained stable even when running heavy AAA titles natively without DLSS.

Black Myth: Wukong reached an average of 76 FPS on High settings. Cyberpunk 2077 ran at 73 FPS on Ultra, while Wuthering Waves held 87 FPS on Ultra.

Cooling works well, but fan noise is the trade-off

The internal cooling system does a solid job under full load. Processor temperature was recorded at a peak of 86 degrees Celsius at 100% workload.

The compromise comes in acoustics. When Performance mode is enabled through Omen Gaming Hub, the fan noise becomes quite noticeable.

There is also one connectivity omission worth noting. The absence of Thunderbolt 4 may matter to users who want broader expansion options.

Even with that limitation, the package is more polished than HP’s earlier efforts in the segment. With a 2-year official warranty, the HyperX Omen 15 combines a stronger chassis, more measured heat management, and a very bright panel for both gaming and long-term productivity.
