Tecno has expanded its Pova lineup in India with the launch of the Pova 8 5G, a mid-range phone built around endurance, fast visuals, and a design that tries to stand out. Its 8,000mAh battery and 144Hz display place it among the more unusual options in a crowded segment.
The device is also notable for its Alive Matrix Display on the rear panel. Tecno says the interactive panel can show dynamic animations for notifications, charging, music playback, and other real-time user activities.
Battery life takes center stage
The biggest selling point is the 8,000mAh battery, a capacity that is far larger than what many mainstream phones offer. Tecno pairs it with 45W fast charging to make the large cell easier to manage in daily use.
That combination is aimed at users who want longer use between charges without giving up faster top-ups. It also supports the phone’s broader positioning as a device for active, mobile-heavy routines.
Built for gaming and entertainment
On the front, the Pova 8 5G uses a 6.76-inch IPS LCD panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen also supports an instantaneous touch sampling rate of up to 1,500Hz and a peak brightness of 950 nits.
Those specifications are intended to deliver quicker response in games while keeping the display readable in bright environments. The result is a phone that leans heavily toward smooth interaction and media consumption.
Dimensity 7100 powers the device
Performance comes from the MediaTek Dimensity 7100 chipset, built on a 6nm process. Tecno offers the phone with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, both of which can be expanded virtually by up to an additional 8GB.
Internal storage is set at 256GB, giving users space for apps, photos, videos, and large games. That configuration makes the Pova 8 5G easier to recommend for buyers who need room to spare.
Cameras, durability, and cooling
For imaging, Tecno uses a 50MP main camera with a Sony LYTIA 600 sensor, supported by an additional sensor. On the front, the phone includes a 13MP selfie camera.
Both the front and rear cameras can record video at up to 2K at 30 frames per second. The phone also carries IP64 protection against dust and splashes, along with MIL-STD-810H certification for added durability.
To help manage heat during demanding use, Tecno has added a cooling system with a surface area of 14,689 mm². That detail fits the phone’s focus on sustained performance rather than short bursts alone.
HiOS 16 brings Android 16
On the software side, the Pova 8 5G runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. Tecno says the system includes a range of AI-based features, including noise reduction for calls and several integrated productivity and entertainment tools.
The phone comes in 16 Bit White and Terminal Green. In India, the 6GB/128GB version is priced at 29,999 rupee, while the 8GB/128GB model costs 31,999 rupee.
Initial sales are scheduled to begin on 18 June through Flipkart. With its large battery, fast screen, and interactive rear display, the Pova 8 5G is clearly aimed at buyers who value stamina and a more engaging everyday phone experience on 5G networks.
