Huawei MatePad Mini Is Coming to Indonesia, with a PaperMatte 120Hz Screen and Stylus Support

Huawei is preparing a compact tablet for the Indonesian market, and the MatePad Mini stands out because it tries to do more than serve as a simple entertainment device. The model is scheduled to launch on 24 June, bringing a mix of portability, display technology, and productivity-focused features.

At first glance, the device is built for users who want something easy to carry without giving up serious writing and drawing capabilities. Huawei pairs the small form factor with a PaperMatte OLED display, a slim chassis, and support for the M-Pencil, which gives the tablet a more work-oriented profile than many other compact models.

A compact tablet with an unusually slim build

The MatePad Mini is described as Huawei’s smallest tablet lineup member. It uses an 8.8-inch display, measures just 5.2 mm thick, and weighs around 260 grams.

Those dimensions make it much easier to bring around than a larger tablet. Huawei appears to be aiming at users who want a practical device for daily use while still keeping the experience comfortable in hand.

PaperMatte OLED is the main attraction

The standout feature is the 2.5K OLED PaperMatte display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel is designed to deliver sharp visuals and smoother motion across the interface.

Huawei says the screen surface is made to feel more like paper, which should improve comfort when writing and help reduce reflections. The display also uses an ultra-thin 2.9 mm bezel, resulting in a 92 percent screen-to-body ratio.

For eye comfort, the tablet includes Eye Comfort features, a black-and-white eBook mode, and TÜV Rheinland as well as SGS certifications.

Productivity features go beyond basic note-taking

Huawei is clearly positioning the MatePad Mini as more than a media tablet. Huawei Notes can automatically recognize handwriting and mathematical formulas, while WPS PC Level is designed to create a document experience closer to a computer.

For creative work, GoPaint is included as a drawing app. Users can also pair the tablet with the Huawei Fold Cover, which supports multiple usage positions, and the third-generation Huawei M-Pencil with up to 10,000 levels of sensitivity and very low latency.

Camera hardware and battery capacity remain practical

The rear camera setup consists of a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. On the front, Huawei includes a 32 MP camera for video calls and selfies.

Inside the thin body, the tablet carries a 6,400 mAh battery. Huawei claims that the capacity can support video playback for up to 15.5 hours on a single charge.

Charging is also fairly quick, with support for 66W fast charging. That combination should help the device stay usable for people who move between locations often.

Price will be announced at launch

Huawei is set to reveal the full specifications and official price in Indonesia on 24 June. That announcement will determine how strongly the compact tablet can compete in the local market.

With its slim body, PaperMatte 120Hz screen, stylus support, and large battery, the MatePad Mini is shaping up to be one of the more distinctive compact tablets to watch. It is being presented not only as a content consumption device, but also as a portable tool for writing, drawing, and working more flexibly.
