Vivo is turning the X Fold 6 into a foldable that wants attention for one clear reason: its camera system. The company has now confirmed a 200MP main camera, sample images, and support for an external teleconverter that reaches an equivalent focal length of 200mm.
That combination places imaging at the center of the phone’s pitch, not just as a spec-sheet highlight. Vivo is also positioning the X Fold 6 as the first foldable phone with a ZEISS APO-certified periscope telephoto camera, which gives it a sharper identity in a crowded category.
A foldable built around long-range photography
The most aggressive part of the setup is the Vivo ZEISS Teleconverter G2, which extends the camera system to 200mm equivalent. Vivo is aiming that accessory at distant subjects such as concerts and sports events, where reach often matters more than sheer resolution.
The company has also already shown official sample photos for the X Fold 6. That early reveal suggests Vivo wants buyers to focus on real-world imaging output before the phone even arrives in stores.
What the camera hardware includes
The main camera uses a Samsung HPB sensor with 200 megapixels and a 1/1.4-inch size. It also features an f/1.68 aperture and CIPA 4.5-level image stabilization support.
For telephoto duties, Vivo uses a Sony LYT-602 sensor in the periscope module. The ZEISS APO certification is meant to signal stronger optical correction, giving the X Fold 6 another point of difference against other foldables.
| Camera feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Main camera | Samsung HPB, 200MP, 1/1.4-inch |
| Aperture | f/1.68 |
| Stabilization | CIPA 4.5 |
| Telephoto sensor | Sony LYT-602 periscope |
| Long-range accessory | Vivo ZEISS Teleconverter G2, up to 200mm equivalent |
Vivo has also confirmed the Vivo V3+ imaging chip, along with portrait focal lengths from 23mm to 100mm, full-focus flash support, and AI-based photography features. Together, those details show a broader effort to make the X Fold 6 competitive beyond a single headline sensor.
Display, design, and productivity focus
Outside imaging, the X Fold 6 is being shaped as a large-screen productivity device. Vivo says it is designed to combine a wide foldable experience with AI-enhanced productivity.
That effort is supported by the new Atomic Workbench feature, which is said to run multiple apps at the same time on the large display for smoother multitasking.
| Display and device detail | Detail |
|---|---|
| Inner display | 8.02 inches |
| Panel material | Samsung M14 |
| Peak brightness | 5,000 nits on inner and outer screens |
| Low-brightness mode | 1 nit |
| Eye comfort | TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 |
Color options also get some attention, with Blue Hole joining the design story. Vivo says the shade is inspired by a deep-sea blue sinkhole and is paired with more rounded corners for the body.
The company has also refined the metal frame to improve the in-hand feel while keeping the phone thin and light. That balance is important for a foldable that is expected to compete on both portability and premium appeal.
Platform shift and what comes next
The X Fold 6 runs OriginOS 6 Fold and is powered by the Dimensity 9500. That matters because Vivo has already confirmed it is moving away from Snapdragon for this foldable line after using Qualcomm chips for a long time.
One major detail still missing is battery capacity, although rumors point to a 6,900mAh battery. If that figure proves accurate, it would be unusually large for a foldable phone.
Vivo is expected to launch the X Fold 6 in China by the end of the month. With the company now revealing more of the camera system, the remaining questions are likely to center on the full camera layout, device weight, and battery size.
