iOS 27 Brings Siri to the Home Screen, But Only on Select iPhones

Apple appears to be preparing one of the more visible changes to the iPhone home screen with iOS 27. The update is expected to place Siri directly on the home screen as a built-in app, making the assistant much more prominent in daily use.

The shift matters because Siri has not traditionally appeared as a standalone app in that space. Once devices move to iOS 27, users are expected to see a new Siri icon immediately after the update, signaling a bigger role for Apple’s assistant inside the system.

A more visible place for Siri

According to 9to5Mac, reported on Saturday, June 13, 2026, the new icon will appear on the iPhone home screen after the switch to iOS 27. Apple has not fully detailed what the app will do, but its placement suggests the company is reworking how Siri fits into the everyday iPhone experience.

The change also marks a break from the older model, where Siri had to be downloaded before being used as a separate app. In iOS 27, it is expected to come preinstalled and ready to use after the system update.

Only devices with Apple Intelligence support

The rollout will not cover every iPhone owner. The Siri app is said to be limited to devices that support Apple Intelligence, which narrows availability to newer hardware.

The reported compatible lineup includes iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

That limitation shows Apple is tying the next phase of Siri to devices with stronger processing capabilities. The home screen change is therefore not only a design decision, but also a hardware-based feature gate.

Interactive widgets and battery efficiency

Developers expect the Siri app to gain interactive widgets that can be customized on the home screen. Those widgets would let users check important information without opening the app in full.

Apple is also said to be testing the new app internally in iOS 27 with a strong focus on power efficiency. The goal is to keep a background presence from draining the battery too quickly.

Taken together, the faster access, interactive widgets, and energy management point to a more integrated Siri experience. If Apple delivers the update as described, iOS 27 could become one of the most noticeable home screen changes on the iPhone in years.
