The mid-range smartphone race now has two very different answers to the same question: should buyers pay more for a stronger overall package, or choose the model that makes the most sense on paper? In this contest, Poco X8 Pro and Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ sit close enough in performance that the real difference comes down to value, display, and camera priorities.
Poco X8 Pro appears to have the stronger price-to-spec balance. Its base variant starts at 34,999 rupees, while Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ begins at 47,999 rupees, creating a gap that is hard to ignore when the core hardware is nearly matched.
Performance stays close despite different branding
Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Extreme, while Poco X8 Pro runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra. The names differ, but the two chips are described as essentially equivalent in practical use.
Both devices also rely on the Arm Mali G-720 GPU, an octa-core CPU with boost speeds up to 3.4 GHz, and the NPU 880 for AI-related tasks. That means gaming, multitasking, and everyday use should feel very close between the two models.
Memory options also reflect the intended positioning of each phone. Motorola offers 12 GB and 16 GB LPDDR5x RAM variants, while Poco provides 8 GB and 12 GB LPDDR5x configurations.
Motorola takes the lead in display quality
For users who care most about screen size and visual impact, Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ has the more aggressive specification sheet. It comes with a 6.8-inch Extreme AMOLED display and a 144 Hz refresh rate.
The panel adds HDR10+, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, more than one billion colors, up to 450 ppi density, and a peak brightness of 5,200 nits. On paper, that combination should deliver a brighter and smoother viewing experience for scrolling, media, and gaming.
Poco X8 Pro is still competitive in this area. It uses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate, plus a Pro HDR display capable of 68 billion colors.
Poco also includes 2,000 nits HBM and 3840 Hz PWM dimming, which should help with eye comfort during longer sessions. Even so, Motorola’s larger panel and higher refresh rate give it the more premium-looking display package.
Camera hardware gives Motorola a clear advantage
The biggest separation between the two phones appears in the camera setup. Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ carries a triple 50 MP rear camera arrangement with a Sony LYTIA main sensor.
Poco X8 Pro, by comparison, uses a 50 MP + 8 MP rear configuration with a Sony IMX 882 main sensor. On the front, Motorola offers a 50 MP selfie camera, while Poco uses a 20 MP unit.

Motorola uses a vegan leather back that is said to resist stains and scratches while also improving grip. The front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, which is also said to be present on the Poco X8 Pro.
Poco takes a more classic premium approach with a glass back, matte texture, and aluminum middle frame. The design is built to feel solid while also helping reduce fingerprints and smudges.

Battery life is equal, but charging tilts toward Poco
Both phones are equipped with a 6,500 mAh battery, so their endurance base is effectively the same on paper. The difference comes in charging speed.
Poco X8 Pro supports 100W HyperCharge wired charging, while Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ uses 90W TurboPower wired charging. That gives Poco a small advantage when it is time to plug in.
