Ugreen’s 30W Magnetic Cooler Pushes Phone Heat Control Into New Territory

Ugreen has introduced a magnetic phone cooler called the LP1012, and its main selling point is not subtle: the company says it can drive the inner surface down to -25°C under controlled laboratory conditions. For mobile gamers, long-form video creators, and live streamers, that promise is aimed squarely at one of the most common problems in sustained phone use: heat.

When a smartphone runs hard for long periods, rising temperature can force the screen to dim and the processor to slow down. An external cooler such as LP1012 is designed to keep those limits at bay by helping the device hold a steadier temperature during demanding sessions.

Built for sustained cooling

At the center of the LP1012 is a 36 x 36 mm thermoelectric TEC plate, paired with a six-layer structure that includes a TEC chip, an aluminum heat-conducting plate, cooling fins, and thermal silicone padding. Ugreen says the layout is intended to draw heat away from the back of the device as efficiently as possible.

The cooler then relies on a seven-blade fan with three speed levels. The lowest mode spins at 2,500 RPM and is rated at about 20 dB, while the standard mode runs at 4,000 RPM and the highest setting reaches 6,500 RPM.

Ugreen also directs hot air toward the side rather than the top or bottom. That choice is meant to reduce the chance of warm airflow hitting the hands when the phone is held in landscape orientation.

Display, lighting, and wider use cases

The LP1012 adds a small digital display in the middle of the fan assembly. It shows the current temperature and the active cooling mode, making the accessory easier to monitor at a glance.

It also includes an RGB light ring with 12 LEDs and five lighting effects. Users who prefer a more understated setup can turn the lighting off completely.

Those additions make the cooler feel closer to a premium accessory than a basic clip-on fan. That matters for users who care about presentation as much as thermal performance, especially during content creation and live streaming.

Magnetic attachment for iPhone and Android

Ugreen has given the LP1012 a magnetic mounting system. It attaches directly to the back of iPhone 12 and newer models through Apple’s MagSafe standard.

Android phones and tablets are also supported through a stick-on magnetic ring and a physical clamp included in the box. That approach keeps the accessory open to more than one platform instead of limiting it to the Apple ecosystem.

The unit weighs 96 grams, which keeps it relatively light for something attached to the back of a phone. Ugreen also uses a soft silicone base to help reduce the risk of scratches.

USB-C power and tripod support

The LP1012 does not include a built-in battery, so it must remain connected to power while in use. Charging and operation run through USB-C, and the highest mode requires a charger capable of at least 30W.

That design makes it best suited for desk-based gaming, stationary video recording, or any setup where the phone stays near a power source. The lack of an internal battery also helps keep weight down.

Ugreen has added a standard 1/4-inch thread to the body as well. That makes it easier to mount a phone-and-cooler combination on a tripod for static video recording.

The thread also broadens the LP1012’s appeal beyond mobile gaming. It gives creators another option for longer shoots and live streams where thermal stability matters just as much as image quality.

Ugreen has been active with more accessory launches recently, including a smart 45W power bank with a built-in cable and color display, as well as a 45W GaN charger that measures just 12.5 mm thick.
