Samsung is reportedly preparing a higher price point for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup, with the adjustment expected to affect markets in Europe and Asia. The move is drawing attention because it comes alongside a broader product shift, not just a routine refresh.
The new series is said to arrive with two models, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra as the successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and another device described as Samsung’s first wide-folding phone. If accurate, that would mark one of the more notable changes in the company’s foldable strategy in recent years.
Price pressure is building in key regions
The latest report points to Europe and Asia as the main regions where Samsung may raise prices. It does not specifically confirm whether India will face the same adjustment, even though the market received the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
That uncertainty matters because India has become an important launch market for Samsung’s foldables. For buyers there, the current rumor leaves open the possibility of a different regional pricing approach.
According to the report, the higher price expectation is tied to both internal and external cost pressures. Rising production expenses are among the factors being mentioned as Samsung weighs its next foldable pricing strategy.
The wider smartphone industry is also dealing with a component squeeze. Shortages in memory and storage parts have pushed up DRAM and NAND prices, adding more pressure to premium device pricing.
Two models could change the Fold formula
Beyond pricing, the reported lineup itself is unusual. Samsung is said to be planning the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and a second model called either the Galaxy Z Fold 8 or Fold 8 Wide.
The wide-folding model would be a first for Samsung if the rumor proves accurate. That would give the company a new design direction in the book-style foldable category, where most attention has usually focused on iterative upgrades.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is described as the direct successor to the Galaxy Z Fold 7. That positioning suggests it will remain the main premium foldable for users who want Samsung’s top-end book-style phone.
The second model could broaden the lineup’s appeal by offering a different screen experience. The name is still unconfirmed, which is why the device is being mentioned in reports as Galaxy Z Fold 8 or Fold 8 Wide.
What the Galaxy Z Fold 7 showed about Samsung’s pricing ceiling
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 launched in India in July 2025, starting at Rs. 1,74,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The 12GB + 512GB version was priced at Rs. 1,86,999, while the top-end 16GB + 1TB model came in at Rs. 2,16,999.
Those figures show how high Samsung has already pushed its foldable pricing. Even a modest increase for the next model could have a noticeable effect on demand in the premium segment.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 was offered in Blue Shadow, Jetblack, and Silver Shadow. It also carried a custom octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset and up to 16GB of RAM.
Its main display measured 8 inches and used a QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex panel with a resolution of 2,184 x 1,968 pixels. On the outside, the phone included a 6.5-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,520 pixels.
Samsung equipped the device with a 4,400mAh battery and 25W wired fast charging. That hardware baseline gives context to the rumored Fold 8 pricing pressure, especially as higher DRAM and NAND costs continue to affect premium phones.
For now, Samsung has not confirmed either of the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 models. The available details still point to a market watch situation rather than a final launch plan, but the direction is clear enough to make prospective buyers in Europe and Asia pay close attention.
