Vivo X Fold 6’s Black Gold Edition Steals the Spotlight as 16GB/1TB Plan Emerges

Vivo X Fold 6 is drawing attention ahead of its China launch, not only because of its foldable hardware but also because of the way Vivo is positioning its highest-end version. The Black Gold Edition is tied exclusively to the 16GB+1TB model, making the top configuration feel more like a special edition than a simple memory upgrade.

That detail has surfaced as preorder listings on JD.com continue to reveal more about the device before its official unveiling on 26 June. The leaked configuration chart suggests Vivo is aiming for a broad spread of options while still giving the most premium variant a distinct identity.

Four configurations, one exclusive colorway

According to the listing update, the Vivo X Fold 6 will be offered in 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and 16GB+1TB variants. The range gives buyers a clear ladder from the base model to the most storage-heavy version.

Color options are listed as Blue Hole, Salt Lake, Polar Night, and Black Gold Edition. However, the Black Gold Edition is reserved only for the 16GB+1TB configuration, which sets it apart from the rest of the lineup.

That approach suggests Vivo wants the highest-spec model to feel more exclusive, not just larger in capacity. It is a familiar premium play, but one that stands out in a foldable market where design and status cues matter almost as much as raw hardware.

Performance, cameras, and imaging hardware

Beyond the storage and color split, Vivo has already confirmed several major specifications for the X Fold 6. The phone will be powered by the Dimensity 9500 Super Edition chipset.

The rear camera system is also shaping up to be a major selling point, led by a 200MP main camera and a Sony LYT-602 periscope telephoto camera. Reports also point to a 50MP ultra-wide camera as part of the setup.

For image processing, Vivo is said to include the V3+ imaging chip. The company is also preparing a less common accessory path for its foldable line, with the X Fold 6 described as the first Vivo foldable to support a telephoto extender attachment.

That accessory support extends to the G2 teleconverter, which is reported to reach a focal length of up to 200mm. For users who care about long-range shooting, that makes the device more flexible than a typical foldable phone.

Large display and a battery built for long use

The X Fold 6 is expected to use an 8.02-inch folding display built with Samsung M14 emissive material. Both the inner and outer screens are said to support peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits.

Those numbers place display visibility among the phone’s most important selling points, especially for a foldable that has to perform well both indoors and outdoors. The large panel should also complement the multitasking focus of the device.

Battery capacity is another area where the X Fold 6 appears well prepared, with reports indicating a 6,900mAh battery. That is a sizeable figure for a foldable and could become one of the device’s most closely watched features.

The phone is also expected to support wireless charging, continuing a convenience feature seen in the previous generation. If that detail remains unchanged, Vivo would be combining strong battery capacity with a more flexible charging experience.

Software, multitasking, and security

On the software side, the Vivo X Fold 6 is said to run OriginOS 6 Fold, with AI optimization built in. The interface is expected to make better use of the large screen for productivity and multitasking.

One reported capability is the ability to keep up to five apps open on a single screen. That kind of layout aligns closely with the foldable category, where split use and rapid app switching are central to the experience.

For security, Vivo is expected to place the fingerprint sensor on the side of the body. That remains a practical choice for a foldable design, where internal space and hinge structure can limit other placements.

With the launch set for 26 June in China, attention is now focused on whether the preorder details will match the final retail announcement. Even so, the current information already points to a foldable with clear tiering, a more exclusive top trim, and a strong push toward premium imaging and multitasking.
