A second rear camera could change the appeal
The most noticeable rumored change is the addition of an ultra-wide camera. The current iPhone Air ships with a single 48MP rear camera, and that setup has reportedly drawn criticism from users who want more flexibility in everyday photography.
If Apple adds a second 48MP lens, the iPhone Air 2 would move closer to the standard iPhone family in camera capability. Even so, the company is expected to avoid making it too close to the Pro lineup.

Apple is reportedly planning a staggered launch schedule for its next wave of phones. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable may arrive in late 2026, followed months later by the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the iPhone Air 2.
That timeline places the Air 2 in a later release window than the premium models, but it also gives Apple room to position the device as a more refined alternative for a broader audience.
