Lenovo Tab Plus Gen 2 Packs 9 JBL Speakers, Turning a Tablet into a Mini Cinema

Lenovo is making audio the headline feature of the Tab Plus Gen 2, a tablet that goes well beyond the usual Android media device. With nine JBL Pro speakers and Dolby Atmos support, the model is built to deliver a more cinematic listening experience than most tablets in its class.

The company is positioning the device as a direct successor to the first-generation Tab Plus, which arrived in June 2024. That context matters because the new model does not only refine the formula; it expands it with a larger display, a faster chipset, and longer software support.

Audio hardware takes center stage

On the back of the tablet, Lenovo places four tweeters, three woofers, and two passive radiators. The layout is designed to sharpen detail while adding stronger bass for movies, music, and games.

The company also says the speaker setup forms part of its “Cinematic Audio System.” The tablet can even double as a Bluetooth speaker, allowing a phone to connect and play audio through the built-in speaker array.

A larger display with premium media features

Beyond sound, the screen has also been upgraded. Lenovo has increased the LCD panel from 11.5 inches to 12.1 inches, giving users more room for streaming, reading, and multitasking.

The display offers a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision plus HDR10 certification. Its brightness reaches 800 nits in High Brightness Mode, which should help visibility in brighter outdoor settings.

Performance moves up a level

Inside, Lenovo replaces the MediaTek Helio G99 found in the previous generation with the MediaTek Dimensity 7400. That upgrade marks one of the biggest jumps in the Tab Plus line’s performance profile.

The tablet comes in 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB RAM variants, with 128 GB or 256 GB of internal storage. Storage can also be expanded through microSD cards up to 2 TB.

Android 16 and long-term support

The Tab Plus Gen 2 ships with Android 16 out of the box. Lenovo also promises two major Android version upgrades, taking the device to Android 18, alongside security updates through 2030.

That support window is notable for buyers looking at tablet longevity rather than short-term novelty. It gives the device a clearer path for longer use, especially for families, students, and entertainment-focused users.

Battery life and design choices

Power comes from a 10,200 mAh battery, which Lenovo says can deliver up to 15 hours of YouTube video playback. Fast charging at 45 watts is also included, helping reduce downtime when the battery needs refilling.

The tablet weighs around 775 grams and measures 22.7 mm thick at the speaker area. Lenovo made that section bulkier to create enough acoustic space for the audio hardware.

To make the design more practical, the company adds a 360-degree integrated kickstand around the speaker area. That stand gives users more flexibility when watching video, reading, or joining video calls.

Lenovo is offering the Tab Plus Gen 2 in Celestial White, with prices starting at US$400, or around Rp 7.1 million. There is still no official information on an Indonesia launch date or local pricing details.
