KPK’s Deactivated iPhone XS Still Draws a Huge Bid, Selling for Rp 34 Million

An iPhone XS seized from a corruption case has attracted a striking bid at a KPK auction, selling for Rp 34.181.000 against a limit price of only Rp 231.000. The gap between the starting value and the final result turned the handset into one of the most attention-grabbing items in the latest auction round.

The device was listed in the June 2026 auction period and came from Nurwidihartana, one of the defendants in the bribery case involving former Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi. According to KPK, the phone was prepared before the auction so that its stored data had already been cleared.

Data Was Cleared Before the Auction

Mungki Hadipratikto, Director of Asset Tracking, Evidence Management, and Execution at KPK, said the deletion process was carried out together with the KPK Electronic Evidence Laboratory. He described the procedure as similar to a factory reset, ensuring the phone entered the auction in an empty state.

He also said the winning bidder still has five working days to complete payment, with the deadline set for 25 June 2026. As of now, the bidder has not yet finished paying for the iPhone.

Other Assets Also Sold Above Expectation

The iPhone XS was not the only item to post a strong result. A 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport sold for Rp 251.090.000 from a limit of Rp 241.090.000, while a La Marzocco coffee machine reached Rp 105.600.000 from Rp 77.600.000.

Other auctioned assets included a 149 m2 Pondok Indah Residences apartment with a limit of Rp 6.445.444.000 and a final price of Rp 6.625.444.000. An excavator also climbed sharply, moving from a limit of Rp 58.800.000 to Rp 320.800.000.

The auction list further included a 2021 Honda Beat sold for Rp 12.291.000, a 189 m2 land-and-building parcel in Banjarnegara sold for Rp 400.020.000, and an iPhone 13 Pro Max 1 TB sold for Rp 17.826.000. A Daihatsu Gran Max van 2022, a vibro roller, and a Hino dump truck were also among the assets absorbed by the market.

The strong result for the iPhone XS suggests that demand for KPK auction goods remains high, even when the items come from confiscated assets linked to corruption cases. KPK emphasized that all electronic devices offered in the sale had already undergone data deletion before being made available to the public.
