Huawei MatePad Mini Packs Premium Extras, A Compact Tablet That Is Hard to Ignore

Author: Qoo Media

Huawei has positioned the MatePad Mini as a compact premium tablet that goes beyond a simple hardware launch. At Rp 8.999.000, the device is paired with benefits said to reach Rp 4.5 million, making the package difficult to overlook for buyers who value productivity accessories.

The most visible extras are the Huawei M-Pencil third generation, valued at Rp 1.7 million, and an exclusive folio cover worth around Rp 1.7 million. With those additions, Huawei is clearly aiming at users who want a tablet that is ready for work, study, and creative tasks from the start.

A new position in Huawei’s tablet lineup

The MatePad Mini marks a new category in Huawei’s tablet family. The company previously separated its lineup into Pro models for professionals and SE models for students, while this new device is described as an all-rounder mini tablet.

According to Edy Supartono, Senior Retail Manager Huawei Device Indonesia, the device is not just a new product but also comes with a new variant that includes exclusive apps and accessories to support multiple use cases. Huawei is targeting active users across a broad range, from workers and university students to content creators.

That positioning is reflected in the design. The tablet measures only 5.2 mm thick and weighs around 260 grams, which makes it easy to carry during daily mobility.

Huawei says the device is among the thinnest and lightest mini tablets in its class. Its compact size is intended to fit in a small bag and, according to the company, can even be carried in a suit pocket.

8.8-inch OLED display takes the lead

The display is one of the strongest selling points of the MatePad Mini. It uses an 8.8-inch Flexible OLED PaperMatte panel with a 2.5K resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and brightness reaching up to 1,800 nits.

Huawei also highlights a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio and slim 2.9 mm bezels for a more immersive viewing area. To support long reading sessions, the screen comes with anti-glare and anti-reflection technology, an e-book mode, and eye protection certification.

Those features make the MatePad Mini more than an entertainment device. The screen setup is also designed for reading, note-taking, and mobile work.

Built for writing, drawing, and portable productivity

Huawei includes support for the M-Pencil third generation, which is said to offer more than 10,000 levels of pressure sensitivity. That makes the tablet more suitable for sketching, annotating, and handwritten notes.

The included folio cover adds another layer of practicality for users moving between meetings, classes, or travel. HarmonyOS 4.3.0 powers the tablet, while the configuration includes 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.

The company describes the device as suitable for entertainment, note taking, e-book reading, creativity, and productivity. That broad use case is part of the main appeal of the MatePad Mini’s compact form factor.

Camera, connectivity, and security

On the rear, Huawei equips the tablet with a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, while the front camera uses a 32 MP sensor. This setup gives the device enough flexibility for meetings, content creation, and everyday imaging needs.

Connectivity includes WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2, and security is handled by a fingerprint sensor placed on the power button. Huawei also says the body is reinforced with a load-bearing structure to improve durability.

The battery capacity is described as large, although Huawei does not add a number in the information provided. Even so, the rest of the specification sheet suggests a device built for long use away from a desk.
