Apple’s next iPhone cycle may look very different from the familiar September routine. Reports indicate that the standard iPhone 18 could arrive later than expected, while the company puts its weight behind premium models and its first foldable device.
That shift matters because it would change the lineup strategy that has defined Apple’s biggest launch event for years. Instead of a broad debut across multiple models, the September stage may be reserved for the higher-end devices first.
Premium Models Move First
Apple is said to be prioritizing the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max before the regular model. This approach reflects the company’s effort to concentrate on products that deliver stronger margins and a more premium market position.
Rising component costs are also part of the picture. Apple is expected to raise the selling price of the iPhone 18 Pro compared with the previous generation to help protect profitability.
iPhone Ultra Becomes the Main Focus
The biggest internal attention is reportedly going to the iPhone Ultra, Apple’s long-rumored first foldable phone. The device has required heavy work across production, marketing, and product refinement before it can be introduced.
One technical issue linked to the hinge mechanism has reportedly been resolved after testing exposed an annoying sound during durability trials. Following that fix, the iPhone Ultra is said to be heading toward mass production in July 2026.
If that schedule holds, the foldable device could be unveiled at Apple’s largest product launch event in September. That would mark a major step for Apple as it enters a category long dominated by competitors.
The Standard iPhone 18 May Be Delayed
