OPPO Reno 16 Brings 50MP Cameras and a Magnetic Bubble Accessory

OPPO is preparing to introduce the Reno 16 series in India on 2 July, and the company has already revealed enough to make the lineup stand out before launch day. The strongest attention now appears to be shifting from the phones themselves to a new accessory called OPPO Bubble, which adds an unusual second-screen idea to the package.

The series will arrive with two models, the OPPO Reno 16 and OPPO Reno 16c, both set to be sold through Amazon, Flipkart, and OPPO’s official channels. Color options confirmed so far include Starry White, Stellar Purple, and Twilight Violet.

Camera hardware leads the pitch

OPPO is placing a clear emphasis on imaging across both devices. The Reno 16 is equipped with three 50MP rear cameras, consisting of a main camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a portrait telephoto camera with 3.5x optical zoom and an 85mm equivalent focal length.

The Reno 16c keeps the same 50MP main and 50MP ultra-wide cameras, but it does not include the telephoto sensor. On the front, both phones use a 50MP selfie camera in a punch-hole design, with a 100-degree field of view for group shots and video calls.

OPPO has also confirmed Dual Flash support to improve low-light photography. On the Reno 16, 4K HDR 60fps video recording is available through the ultra-wide, main, and telephoto cameras.

Several software features are part of the package as well, including Dual-View Video 2.0, Pop Cam, Popout 2.0, and AI Remix Collage. Together, they suggest that OPPO wants the Reno 16 series to appeal not only to casual users but also to people who create content regularly.

Two AMOLED displays with different priorities

The display setup separates the two models in a straightforward way. The Reno 16 comes with a 6.32-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of up to 1,800 nits.

The Reno 16c uses a larger 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate, but its peak brightness reaches 1,400 nits. That makes the standard Reno 16 the brighter and more compact option, while the Reno 16c is positioned as the larger-screen alternative.

Design, durability, and AI controls

OPPO says the series adopts a new 3D Pop Planet design, while the standard Reno 16 adds HoloVerse 3D design elements and a Floating 3D Glitter finish. Both models use an aerospace-grade aluminum frame.

Durability is also a notable part of the announcement. OPPO has confirmed IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance across the lineup, along with Splash Touch and Glove Touch for better screen responsiveness in wet conditions or when wearing gloves.

Another new detail is the AI Snap Key, which acts as a shortcut for AI features and MindSpace. OPPO says the tool is intended to help users organize saved content more easily.

OPPO Bubble turns the accessory into a talking point

The most unexpected reveal is OPPO Bubble, a magnetic accessory that attaches to the back of the phone and includes a 1.73-inch AMOLED display. Its role goes beyond decoration, since it can be used as a camera viewfinder, remote shutter control, and secondary display.

Users can also customize it with wallpapers and interactive animals on the screen. OPPO says the accessory supports Bluetooth with a range of up to 10 meters, includes a 550mAh battery, carries an IP54 rating, and weighs about 27.5 grams.

With the Reno 16 series and OPPO Bubble both due at the same event, OPPO is clearly trying to pair strong camera hardware with a more playful accessory strategy. The company is also expected to show the Enco Air 5 true wireless earbuds at the same launch, giving the 2 July presentation an unusually crowded lineup.
