Galaxy S27 Pro May Skip S Pen, but Its Privacy Display and Ultra Cameras Stand Out

Samsung appears to be shaping the Galaxy S27 Pro as a compact flagship with very few compromises. The device is rumored to borrow much of the premium appeal of the Galaxy S27 Ultra, while leaving out the S Pen to keep the size and positioning more focused.

That combination is notable because smaller high-end phones often have to give up either battery life, camera quality, or performance. In this case, the S27 Pro is expected to challenge that pattern with a hardware Privacy Display, global Snapdragon support, and a camera setup that comes very close to Ultra territory.

A smaller flagship with a clear premium pitch

The most immediate difference is the display size. The Galaxy S27 Pro is said to use a 6.47-inch screen, making it smaller than the 6.7-inch panel on the S26+ and easier to handle in daily use.

Despite the smaller footprint, Samsung is reportedly adding a hardware-based Privacy Display. This feature narrows the viewing angle physically, so people beside the user see a darkened screen while the main user can still read it normally.

On the Galaxy S26 Ultra, this privacy layer is described as one of the most distinctive selling points. The S27 Pro is now expected to inherit the same idea through a special layer built into the OLED panel stack.

The display is still expected to rely on Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness is also likely to remain above 2,500 nits, keeping it in familiar Samsung flagship territory.

Global Snapdragon power, no Exynos version

Performance is another area where the S27 Pro is expected to avoid compromise. The phone is rumored to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy globally, with no Exynos variant for this model.

That would separate it from some base and Plus models that still use Exynos in certain regions. The chipset is also said to be built on Samsung’s 2nm process, with claims of 25 percent better power efficiency and 15 to 20 percent higher CPU and GPU performance.

The same chip is also linked to a new AI engine meant to improve photography and virtual assistant features. Samsung is reportedly pairing it with at least 12GB of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Kamera setup that stays close to Ultra

The camera system is perhaps the clearest sign that this model is aimed at serious users. The leaked specification points to a 200MP main camera, a 50MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree field of view, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

The telephoto sensor may differ slightly from the Ultra version, but the overall experience is still expected to remain very close. AI-powered Nightography, ProVisual Engine, and Zoom Lock are also mentioned as part of the imaging package.

In practice, that means the S27 Pro is being positioned for buyers who want top-tier mobile photography without carrying a device as large as a tablet. The only major feature deliberately left out is the S Pen slot.

Battery and charging stay in flagship range

Battery life is expected to remain competitive even with the smaller body. The Galaxy S27 Pro is said to carry a 5,000mAh battery, matching the S26+ while benefiting from the efficiency of the 2nm chipset and a more optimized internal layout.

Charging support is also said to remain complete. The device is rumored to include 45W wired fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

How Samsung may separate the Pro from the Ultra

Removing the S Pen from the S27 Pro appears intentional. Samsung seems to want the Ultra to remain the only model with that accessory, keeping the product hierarchy clear.

That strategy gives the S27 Pro a strong middle position. It offers a private display, global Snapdragon performance, a large battery, and a camera system close to the Ultra, while leaving the highest price tier to the top model.

Galaxy Unpacked 2027 is expected to bring four models at once: Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra. The S27 Pro is said to sit in the $1,099–$1,199 range, below the Ultra at $1,299+ and above the Plus at $999.

For buyers who want a more compact flagship without giving up the headline features, the S27 Pro could become the most balanced option in Samsung’s next lineup.
