Philips Smart Lighting Turns Match Nights Into a Stadium-Like Home Experience

Watching football at home is becoming more immersive as Philips Smart Lighting TV Sync brings stadium-style atmosphere into the living room. With Sports Live, the room lighting can react to key moments on the pitch and make match nights feel more animated.

The trend is supported by strong audience interest. A recent study found that 76% of Indonesians enjoy watching sports broadcasts, while Signify said 80% of sports fans globally now prefer to follow matches from home. The company also noted that 42% of them prepare extra ambience, including adjusting room light colors.

Lighting that follows the action

Signify designed Sports Live to make viewing more immersive through a connected lighting setup. The system works with Philips smart lighting products such as Smart LED Bulb RGB, Downlight RGB, LED Strip RGB, and Neon Flex RGB.

The hardware is offered in two media player options, HDMI 2.0 and HDMI 2.1. With that setup, the room lighting can respond automatically to important moments during a match.

Match moments translated into light effects

Through the WiZ app, users need to update the app on their phone and make sure Philips Smart Lighting TV Sync is connected to the lights in the room. Sports Live is available exclusively from 11 June to 20 July 2026, aligned with the world’s biggest football tournament.

During a match, the lights can be set to match the colors of a supported national flag or jersey. At kickoff, the lights blink in sync with a heartbeat effect for 5 seconds to build early tension.

Yellow and red cards also have their own lighting response. When the referee shows a card, the room lights change color for 5 seconds to match the card on the field.

More dramatic for penalties and goals

When a match goes to penalties, the lights switch to deep purple to heighten the sense of pressure. When a goal is scored, the lighting produces dynamic flashes for 10 seconds.

If the supported team wins, the lights shine at maximum brightness as a celebration cue. The effect lineup is designed to keep the viewing mood active throughout the match.

Not limited to football nights

Signify positions Philips Smart Lighting TV Sync as a broader entertainment device as well. The product is also described as suitable for console gaming and home movie viewing.

Dedy Bagus Pramono, President Director of Signify Indonesia, said lighting has become part of how people enjoy meaningful moments at home. He also pointed to this year’s global football tournament as an example of how smart lighting technology can create a more immersive experience with friends and family.
