Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra May Get a Major Camera Lift, While Flip8 Stays Familiar

Samsung’s next foldables are being watched closely for one reason in particular: camera changes. New leaks suggest the biggest upgrade may land on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 could arrive with almost the same imaging hardware as before.

The rumored lineup is expected to include the Galaxy Z Fold8 wide, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung is said to unveil the new Galaxy Z foldables in July, with sales reportedly starting on 5 August.

Fold8 Ultra appears to be the main camera story

According to the leak, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra will keep a triple rear camera setup, but one key part is changing. The ultrawide camera is said to move from 12MP to a new 50MP sensor.

The main camera is also reported to remain a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 unit, while the 10MP telephoto camera is said to carry over as well. That would make the Ultra the most notable model in the lineup for camera improvements.

Galaxy Z Flip850MP main, 12MP ultrawideNo major camera change expected

That single upgrade may matter more than a full redesign of the camera system. Samsung appears to be targeting the part of the setup that has trailed behind most clearly, rather than changing every sensor at once.

If the leak proves accurate, the Fold8 Ultra could end up with a more balanced camera package. A high-resolution main sensor would stay in place, while the ultrawide lens would get a substantial spec boost.

Fold8 wide and Flip8 point in different directions

The Galaxy Z Fold8 wide is said to take a different approach altogether. The device is rumored to use two rear cameras, both rated at 50MP.

Leaked details also point to a 10MP selfie camera on the cover display and another 10MP camera on the inner screen. Samsung seems to be separating the Fold8 lineup not only by size or design, but also by camera layout.

For the Galaxy Z Flip8, the picture is more conservative. The clamshell model is said to keep the same camera hardware as the Galaxy Z Flip7.

That means a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera are still expected. In this leak, the Flip8 stands out as the model with the least visible change.

Launch timing remains tied to July and August

Samsung is reportedly planning its Galaxy Z announcement for 22 July, followed by sales from 5 August. Those dates remain unconfirmed, but they are the clearest timing cues in the leak so far.

Dummy units said to show the Galaxy Z Fold8 wide and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra also reinforce the idea that Samsung is preparing a clearer split between its foldable models. The differences appear especially visible in naming and camera direction.

For now, the strongest detail in circulation is the 50MP ultrawide upgrade for the Fold8 Ultra. If Samsung sticks to this rumored strategy, the Fold series will get the largest camera attention, while the Flip line largely preserves its current formula.
