Vivo X500 Pro Max Leak Puts LOFIC Camera Tech in the Spotlight

Vivo’s next flagship is beginning to look like a serious camera-first device. The latest leak around the Vivo X500 Pro Max points to a new 50 MP main sensor with LOFIC support, a combination aimed at keeping both bright highlights and deep shadows under control.

That detail matters because flagship competition among Chinese smartphone brands is now increasingly centered on camera innovation rather than megapixel counts alone. If the report proves accurate, Vivo appears to be building the X500 Pro Max as a premium imaging phone with a stronger focus on dynamic range and more natural-looking results.

Main camera leak centers on Sony sensor options

According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Vivo X500 Pro Max is expected to arrive with a triple rear-camera setup. The rumored arrangement includes a 50 MP main camera, a 200 MP periscope telephoto camera, and a 50 MP ultrawide camera.

The most important part of the leak is the main sensor itself. It is said to use a 1/1.28-inch Sony sensor, with either the Sony LYT838 or the newly introduced Sony LYT910 LOFIC under consideration.

LOFIC stands for Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor. The technology works at the hardware level to help manage contrast, allowing the sensor to retain detail in very bright highlights and very dark shadows.

Rumored Camera Setup Specification Notable Detail
Main Camera 50 MP, 1/1.28-inch Sony sensor Possible Sony LYT838 or Sony LYT910 LOFIC
Periscope Telephoto 200 MP, 1/1.4-inch sensor Reported 85 mm focal length, 3.5x optical zoom, OIS
Ultrawide 50 MP Completes the triple-camera setup

200 MP periscope could be the other headline feature

The telephoto side of the setup is just as ambitious. The Vivo X500 Pro Max is also said to use a 200 MP periscope sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size, making it one of the most prominent elements in the rumored camera system.

Earlier leaks suggest the periscope camera may use an 85 mm focal length. It is also said to support 3.5x optical zoom and optical image stabilization, or OIS.

That combination should give Vivo more room to deliver sharper telephoto shots with better stability. It may also improve telephoto macro capabilities, which would fit the device’s premium imaging focus.

The third rear camera is expected to be a 50 MP ultrawide lens. Together, the three-camera setup would cover everyday shots, landscapes, optical zoom, and closer telephoto work without leaving major gaps in the system.

Other rumored specs reinforce the flagship positioning

Camera hardware is only part of the picture. Earlier chipset leaks for the Vivo X500 series suggest the X500 Pro Max may be powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro.

The chip is said to be MediaTek’s first mobile processor built on TSMC’s 2 nm process. If that information is accurate, Vivo would be pairing its camera push with a platform designed for high-end performance.

Memory support is also expected to move upmarket, with the device reportedly backed by next-generation LPDDR6 RAM. That would help reinforce the phone’s role not only as an imaging device, but also as a strong performer for demanding tasks and image processing.

The display is also tipped to sit firmly in premium territory. The Vivo X500 Pro Max may feature a 6.85-inch 2K OLED LTPO panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate.

That kind of screen would suit users who want sharp visuals and smoother navigation. For a camera-centric flagship, a large high-resolution panel also makes it easier to review photos and videos directly on the phone.

Battery capacity is another area where the device could stand out. Previous leaks point to an 8,000 mAh battery, which would be a notable figure in the flagship class.

A battery of that size would also make sense alongside a 2K, 144 Hz display and a camera system expected to handle heavy processing. Vivo has not announced an official launch date for the X500 series yet, but more details are expected to surface closer to the rumored September release window in China.

There is also mention of another model called the Vivo X500e, although details on that device remain very limited for now. For the moment, the X500 Pro Max is the model drawing the most attention, mainly because the leak suggests a camera package built around a 50 MP LOFIC main sensor, a 200 MP periscope lens, and hardware that pushes the phone squarely into flagship territory.
