Lenovo is preparing another compact gaming tablet under the Legion name, and the biggest new addition appears to be 5G support. The device, currently referred to as Y700 Unlimited in a machine translation from Chinese, is scheduled to arrive in August.
The timing is notable because Lenovo only introduced the Legion Y700 (Gen 5) in March. That makes this next model a fast follow-up, with the company now shifting attention toward mobile connectivity and a more eye-catching rear design.
RGB lighting moves onto the back
Lenovo has already shown a teaser video that reveals a redesigned camera module and an RGB LED ring around the rear camera area. The visual update suggests the brand is keeping the Legion gaming identity front and center.
That RGB treatment is still unusual for tablets, which makes the design stand out even before the company has shared the full specifications. Lenovo has not yet confirmed details such as display size, battery capacity, or memory configuration for the new model.
Why 5G matters for a gaming tablet
5G is the one feature Lenovo has clearly confirmed so far, and it could broaden how the tablet is used. For gaming, streaming, and general connectivity, mobile data support removes the need to rely entirely on Wi-Fi.
The teaser also indicates that Lenovo is not simply reusing the previous design. The rear camera island looks more prominent, giving the upcoming tablet a different visual identity from the earlier Legion Y700 (Gen 5).
Lenovo has said more teaser material will follow in the coming weeks. That suggests the company is still building interest gradually before revealing the full picture in August.
What the current Legion Y700 already offers
The existing Legion Y700 (Gen 5) sets a high bar for the new model. It uses an 8.8-inch LCD panel with a 1904 x 3040 resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 800 nits.
Its performance package is led by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, with RAM options of 12GB, 16GB, and 24GB. Storage choices extend from 256GB to 512GB and 1TB, which gives the tablet room for games, apps, and media files.
Table: Legion Y700 (Gen 5) key specifications

Camera hardware on the current model includes a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. Power comes from a 9,000mAh battery with 68W wired charging, while Android 16 serves as the software base.
For now, the main question is whether Y700 Unlimited will be a full upgrade or a more focused variant built around 5G and design changes. Lenovo has not confirmed pricing, target markets, or the exact launch date in August.
Even with limited information, the direction is clear. Lenovo is keeping the Legion tablet line active and adding a new selling point that mixes connectivity with a more aggressive gaming look.
