DJI Mic Mini 2S Packs 32-Bit Recording into a Tiny Body, Loud Surges Are No Longer a Problem

DJI has introduced the Mic Mini 2S as a compact wireless microphone system that brings professional-grade features into a very small body. Its headline feature is 32-bit floating-point internal recording, designed to preserve detail from quiet voices to sudden loud spikes without clipping or distortion.

That capability matters most in fast-moving production work, where audio levels can change in an instant. Instead of treating the microphone only as a wireless transmitter, DJI has built it to serve as a backup recorder as well, giving creators another layer of security during shoots.

Built-in storage adds room for long sessions

Each transmitter includes 14.5GB of internal storage, which DJI says is enough for up to 28 hours of loop recording. For creators who record interviews, field content, or short-form video on the move, that extra local storage reduces the risk of losing a take if the main recording chain fails.

The 32-bit internal recording also offers more flexibility in post-production. Users can work with raw files when they want finer control, or rely on processed files when they need faster turnaround for more immediate publishing.

Small enough for daily creator use

At just 12 grams, the transmitter is light enough to mount on clothing or gear without drawing much attention. DJI is clearly aiming at users who need portability first, including vloggers, interviewers, mobile filmmakers, and anyone working in active shooting environments.

The transmitter can also operate on its own as a standalone voice recorder. That gives it added value in situations where a receiver is not connected or when a separate audio backup is preferred.

Noise reduction is split into two modes

Mic Mini 2S includes two noise reduction settings tailored to different environments. Weak mode is intended for indoor use and can help reduce fan noise or echo, while Strong mode is meant for outdoor scenes with traffic or wind.

That approach makes the system more practical on location because users can adjust the sound profile quickly. It also reduces dependence on heavy audio cleanup after filming is done.

Receiver support is more flexible than before

One receiver can connect with up to four transmitters, including older DJI models. That makes the system more suitable for group discussions, multi-person interviews, or productions that need several audio sources at once.

The receiver supports mono, stereo, and quad track output. Those options should make editing easier, since each speaker can be managed separately depending on the project.

For range, DJI says the system can transmit up to 400 meters under ideal conditions. That gives creators more freedom when working in open spaces or when the subject needs to move far from the camera.

Battery life is built for long shooting days

DJI rates the transmitter at up to 11 hours of battery life, while the receiver is said to last up to 10 hours. When used with the charging case, total operating time can reach around 40 hours, which is a useful figure for creators with extended production schedules.

The company also includes fast charging support, with about one hour of use possible from five minutes of charging. In practice, that makes the Mic Mini 2S more suitable for on-the-go work where downtime must stay short.

Design choices focus on usability, not just audio

The transmitter uses a removable magnetic clip that can be rotated, adding flexibility when mounting it on different outfits or accessories. The front cover is also removable, giving users more room for personalization than many basic wireless microphones.

The system comes in Obsidian Black and Cloud White, while additional color options and a windproof fur cover are sold separately. DJI also offers special artist collaboration magnetic covers for users who want a more customized look.

In China, the one-to-two charging case kit is priced at 1199 yuan, the 1-to-1 bundle costs 629 yuan, the phone-to-phone kit with case is also 629 yuan, and a single transmitter sells for 399 yuan. DJI has not yet announced global pricing, though the Mic Mini 2S is expected to reach international markets soon.
