Casio Vintage is using a different kind of showcase in Jakarta, one that treats its history as the main attraction rather than the products alone. Through an immersive exhibition titled The Journey of Invention, CASIO Indonesia invites visitors to follow the brand’s path of innovation and identity in a more visual and narrative format.
The exhibition is held together with the Art & Science creative space at its store in ASHTA District 8, South Jakarta. Instead of a standard product display, the setup places visitors inside an experience built around archives, visuals, and the brand’s long-running design language.
The “From 0 to 1” philosophy sits at the core
At the heart of the exhibition is founder Toshio Kashio’s “From 0 to 1” philosophy, which emphasizes creating something genuinely new rather than simply following existing trends. That idea has long shaped CASIO’s approach to innovation across different product lines.
The brand traces that spirit through milestones ranging from the world’s first electronic calculator to the digital watch that later became a cross-generational icon. In this exhibition, those developments are presented not as isolated achievements, but as part of a larger story about invention and consistency.
Four zones guide the visitor experience
The exhibition is divided into four experience zones: Roots of Innovation, Toshio Kashio’s Mind, Digital Evolution, and Future Legacy. Each section is designed to present a different layer of the brand’s development, from early engineering to cultural relevance.
Roots of Innovation focuses on CASIO’s early history in mechanical calculator technology. Toshio Kashio’s Mind uses visual storytelling to show the founder’s creative process, while Digital Evolution highlights the birth of the world’s first digital watch.
Future Legacy closes the journey by showing how older CASIO products continue to matter today. In that space, vintage watches are positioned not only as heritage objects, but also as fashion items that still appeal to younger audiences.
Rare archives and vintage pieces add depth
The exhibition combines rare archival material, historical visuals, and selected pieces from the CASIO Vintage line. That mix gives the display a collectible dimension, especially for visitors who already follow the brand’s classic models.
Raizar Amar, Head Division of Marketing Communication and Creative at PT Fokus Jaya Bersama Lifestyle, said CASIO Vintage has become part of pop culture in many parts of the world. He added that the exhibition is meant to deliver more than a product display by presenting the brand’s history, emotional value, and sustained commitment to innovation.
Audio-visual spaces, vinyl music, and a urban Japanese mood
Beyond the archival focus, the event also includes interactive elements for visitors. One of the notable areas is an audio-visual room that combines sight and sound into a single experience.
There is also an exclusive raffle program with prizes for visitors. Outside the store, the atmosphere shifts toward a relaxed urban Japanese feel, supported by music played on vinyl records.
The venue is completed with a specially curated bar by Fuglen Jakarta, turning the exhibition into something closer to a lifestyle gathering. On the first day, the event was reserved for invited guests and media from 18.00 to 20.00 WIB before opening to the general public.
