CATCHPLAY+ Pushes Into Vertical Stories And Car Dashboards After 10 Years

Author: Qoo Media

CATCHPLAY+ is widening its role beyond conventional streaming after 10 years in Indonesia. The platform is now aiming to meet viewers wherever they are, from mobile screens to in-car entertainment systems.

The shift is notable because it comes at a time when many streaming services are still focused mainly on expanding their libraries. CATCHPLAY+ is instead betting on new viewing formats and broader access points that fit daily habits more closely.

Vertical viewing becomes a new priority

One of the clearest changes is CATCHPLAY LITE, a vertical entertainment space built inside the CATCHPLAY+ app. It uses a full-screen 9:16 format and is designed for short dramas that feel more immersive on a phone.

The launch begins with collaborations from four major South Korean entertainment players, including CJ ENM HK and b.able. CATCHPLAY+ also secured an exclusive branded zone partnership with Sero, a fast-rising vertical platform from Korea.

Those partnerships bring the simultaneous premiere of vertical films and series across the CATCHPLAY+ regional footprint. Beyond Korean titles, subscribers can also access dozens of new vertical titles across genres, with fresh additions arriving every week.

Entertainment is also moving into vehicles

CATCHPLAY+ is also extending its reach into cars through a regional partnership with Xperi. The service will appear on the DTS AutoStage™ platform, bringing another screen into its distribution strategy.

The integration is scheduled to arrive this July in selected luxury vehicle models in Indonesia. That move adds the car interior to a lineup that already includes home viewing and mobile access.

By linking those environments, CATCHPLAY+ is pushing a “watch anywhere” model that follows users across routines and locations. The approach reflects a broader effort to make entertainment feel continuous instead of tied to a single device.

Premium titles and local projects still remain in focus

Even as it expands into new formats, CATCHPLAY+ is keeping premium entertainment and local content in view. The platform recently introduced the exclusive variety show “Vakation” as part of that effort.

It is also continuing to support Indonesian storytelling through Losmen Melati, its original IP that found success in 2023. In addition, CATCHPLAY+ has released a first look at an upcoming Indonesian horror-action film developed through its ongoing collaboration with Infinite Studios.

The result is a broader platform strategy that now spans format, device, and content origin. After a decade in the market, CATCHPLAY+ appears to be repositioning itself not only as a content curator, but as a multi-surface entertainment destination.
