Samsung’s Galaxy A18 is starting to look like more than a routine refresh. New render leaks suggest the company is giving its entry-level phone a cleaner rear design that feels more refined than the model it replaces.
The images, shared by tipster OnLeaks with Smartphone Checker and said to be based on Samsung CAD files, point to a device that is already deep into development. That usually means the broad shape and layout are close to final, even if some details can still change before launch.
A flatter camera layout defines the new look
The biggest visual update is on the back. Galaxy A18 still uses a vertical triple-camera arrangement, but the camera housing now appears more flush with the rear panel, creating a smoother overall finish.
That change gives the phone a tidier appearance and slightly more premium presence, especially for a device expected to sit in Samsung’s affordable lineup. Compared with Galaxy A17, the new model also appears a little slimmer.
| Model | Dimensions | Design note |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A18 | 164.4 x 77.8 x 7.84 mm | Flatter camera housing, slimmer body |
| Galaxy A17 | Not specified | Galaxy A18 is said to be about 0.1 mm thinner |
At the front, Samsung is keeping a familiar formula. The phone still uses an Infinity-U, or waterdrop, notch, while the bezels remain relatively thick, which is typical for an entry-level Galaxy model.
Two variants are expected, both aimed at value
Beyond design, earlier leaks suggest Samsung plans to offer Galaxy A18 in both 4G and 5G versions. Interestingly, neither one is said to use an Exynos chipset.
The Galaxy A18 4G is reportedly powered by a MediaTek chip, while the Galaxy A18 5G is expected to rely on a Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm. According to inet.detik.com, that combination appears aimed at keeping pricing competitive in the affordable phone segment.
| Variant | Chipset | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A18 4G | MediaTek | Reported |
| Galaxy A18 5G | Snapdragon | Expected |
Samsung has not confirmed the official specifications yet, including display size, battery capacity, or camera setup. But CAD-based render leaks often appear when a product is nearing its final stage of development, which makes the current design details especially noteworthy.
If the current information holds, more leaks are likely to follow in the coming weeks before the official debut. For now, the cleaner back panel alone is enough to make Galaxy A18 stand out more clearly than its predecessor.
