Leaks around the Samsung Galaxy A18 suggest that Samsung is keeping its entry-level formula intact, but with one visible refinement that may matter more than expected. The rear camera area now looks more integrated into the body, giving the phone a neater finish than its predecessor.
At the same time, the front still appears familiar. The waterdrop notch and relatively thick bezels remain in place, which indicates that Samsung is focusing its updates more on refinement than a full design overhaul.
A flatter camera housing leads the visual change
The Galaxy A18 render shared by Smartphone Checker together with leaker OnLeaks is said to be based on official CAD files that Samsung typically provides to accessory makers before launch. In the images, the phone still uses a vertical triple-camera setup.
The main difference is the camera housing itself, which now appears flatter and less raised from the rear panel. That small change makes the back of the device look cleaner and less visually busy.
| Section | Galaxy A18 | Leak Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Rear camera | 3 vertical cameras | Flatter housing blends more into the back panel |
| Front display | Infinity-U notch | Bezel still relatively thick |
Thin dimensions, while the battery remains uncertain
The leaked dimensions for the Samsung Galaxy A18 are listed at 164.4 x 77.8 x 7.84 mm. That makes it the same height as the Galaxy A17, about 0.1 mm slimmer, and roughly 0.34 mm thicker overall.
There is no confirmation yet on whether the added thickness is tied to a larger battery. Even so, several reports say the Galaxy A18 is still expected to carry a battery of around 5,000 mAh.
| Measurement | Galaxy A18 | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensions | 164.4 x 77.8 x 7.84 mm | Same height as Galaxy A17 |
| Thickness | 7.84 mm | About 0.34 mm thicker |
| Battery | Around 5,000 mAh | Still based on early reports |
Familiar screen, but the chipset story may shift
On the display side, the Galaxy A18 is said to keep a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 90 Hz refresh rate. That points to Samsung staying close to a proven setup in the entry-level segment.
The more notable change may come from the processor lineup. Samsung is reportedly preparing the Galaxy A18 in both 4G and 5G versions, and neither version is said to use an Exynos chipset anymore.
ZDNet Korea reports that the Galaxy A18 5G will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip, while the 4G model will use MediaTek. Other reports further suggest the 5G variant may get the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, with the 4G version relying on the MediaTek Helio G99.
| Variant | Chipset Reported | Additional Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy A18 5G | Qualcomm Snapdragon | Expected to use Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 |
| Galaxy A18 4G | MediaTek | Expected to use Helio G99 |
Camera hardware may stay close to the Galaxy A17
Because the design change around the camera is relatively minor, the imaging hardware is also expected to remain largely unchanged from the Galaxy A17. If the leak proves accurate, the Galaxy A18 will feature a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 5 MP ultrawide camera, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 13 MP front camera.
Samsung has not announced a launch schedule for the Galaxy A18 yet. Still, the appearance of CAD-based renders is usually an indication that a device could arrive within the next few months.
For now, the Galaxy A18 looks like a cautious successor with a cleaner rear profile and a possible chipset change, while the rest of the device remains firmly within Samsung’s familiar entry-level playbook.
