Motorola Edge 70 Max Brings 7,100 mAh Battery and Magnetic Charging to India

Motorola is preparing a notable push in India with the Edge 70 Max, a handset built around an unusually large battery and a rare charging setup for its class. The device is set to launch on 15 July at 12.00 IST and will be sold through Flipkart after its debut.

The strongest selling point is not just battery capacity, but the combination of 7,100 mAh endurance, 90W wired charging, and magnetic wireless charging. Motorola says the wireless magnetic option is a first for the segment, which could make the phone stand out in a crowded premium midrange market.

Performance Positioned Around AI

Under the hood, the Edge 70 Max will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC. Motorola says the chipset delivers a 46 percent improvement in NPU performance for AI tasks, while the claimed AnTuTu score exceeds 3 million.

The phone is also expected to support up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and on-device AI processing. That combination suggests Motorola is targeting users who want both raw speed and local AI capabilities, rather than only benchmark-focused performance.

Display, Cooling, and Gaming Focus

Motorola has confirmed a Quad-HD+ LTPO display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 7,000 nits. The panel also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection, DCI-P3 color gamut support, 10-bit color output, and a screen-to-body ratio of 95.12 percent.

The microsite further mentions 120fps gameplay support for BGMI, pointing to a gaming angle as part of the phone’s broader appeal. To manage heat, Motorola is using an ArcticMesh cooling system with a 5,500 sq mm vapor chamber.

Design Clues and What Remains Unknown

Teaser images on Flipkart’s microsite show a flat display, slim bezels, and a square rear camera module. Motorola is also showing the device in light blue and green finishes, giving the phone a fresher look than many competitors in the same category.

Several important details are still missing, especially the price and the camera specifications. Those are likely to be revealed at the official launch in India, when Motorola fully unveils the Edge 70 Max.
