Samsung is bringing the Samsung 990 SSD to Indonesia with a 2TB option designed to hold up to 30 AAA game titles. The estimate is based on an average game size of 64GB, giving users more room for large libraries and files.
The drive is scheduled to reach the Indonesian market in late July 2026. It will be offered in 1TB and 2TB capacities for gamers, content creators, and users building their own PCs.
The 1TB Samsung 990 SSD starts at Rp 4.937.754, while the 2TB model starts at Rp 9.753.287. Both variants will be sold through Samsung Memory Official Store outlets on Tokopedia and Shopee, as well as selected electronics retailers.
| Model | Capacity | Starting Price |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung 990 SSD | 1TB | Rp 4.937.754 |
| Samsung 990 SSD | 2TB | Rp 9.753.287 |
Performance for demanding PC use
Samsung equips the drive with a PCIe 4.0 interface and its latest NAND technology. The combination is intended to speed up file transfers and reduce application loading times.
The 2TB version delivers sequential read speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6,450 MB/s. The 1TB model reaches up to 7,150 MB/s for reads while retaining the same 6,450 MB/s maximum write speed.
| Capacity | Sequential Read/Write | Random Performance |
|---|---|---|
| 2TB | 7,250 / 6,450 MB/s | 850,000 read IOPS, 1,200,000 write IOPS |
| 1TB | 7,150 / 6,450 MB/s | 700,000 read IOPS, 1,100,000 write IOPS |
Random performance differs between the two capacities, with the 2TB drive reaching up to 850,000 read IOPS and 1,200,000 write IOPS. The 1TB version is rated for up to 700,000 read IOPS and 1,100,000 write IOPS.
Samsung says the Samsung 990 SSD improves power efficiency by up to 38% compared with the Samsung 990 PRO. The company positions that gain as a way to maintain high performance while lowering power consumption.
Growing demand for PC storage
The launch comes as Indonesia’s PC market continues to expand. IDC reported that PC shipments in Indonesia rose 9.4% year on year in the first quarter of 2026, alongside stronger use of PCs for gaming and high-resolution content production.
Tommy Hyoungsuk Kwon, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Memory Brand Product Biz Team, said the new drive is intended for users upgrading storage capacity for demanding workloads. Samsung also highlighted its use for immersive gaming, high-resolution content creation, and self-built PCs.
Users will be able to manage the drive through Samsung Magician. The software supports secure data migration, drive health monitoring, and performance optimization based on a user’s PC needs.
