Samsung may be preparing a notable design shift for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, judging by a brief appearance in a Spider-Man: Brand New Day collaboration video. The foldable shown in the clip appears wider than Samsung’s previous Fold designs.
The visual clue stands out because Samsung’s Fold devices have traditionally opened into a form that feels closer to a conventional phone. A wider folding display could signal a different direction for the company’s next flagship foldable.
A Short Clip Draws Attention to the New Form
The video appears on a Spider-Man: Brand New Day collaboration microsite that is now active in the United States. The site allows users to pre-order Samsung’s latest Galaxy devices ahead of their expected unveiling at Galaxy Unpacked next week.
Titled “A brand new shape for a Brand New Day,” the unlisted video shows Spider-Man holding two different Samsung foldables. One resembles a Galaxy Z Flip model, while the other is presented as a device with a new, wider shape.
| Device shown | Visible details | What is known |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Flip-style device | Two cameras on the upper flap and thin-looking cover-display bezels | The specific model is not named |
| Foldable with a new shape | Briefly shown with a wider-looking profile | Widely suspected to be the Galaxy Z Fold 8 |
Samsung does not identify the second device in the video. However, its proportions match recent indications that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could adopt a wider display ratio.
Earlier Promotions Used Similar Visual Cues
The Spider-Man material is not the first Samsung promotion to hint at a broader form factor. The company previously released social media videos featuring wider objects as visual signals for an upcoming device.
An Indian pre-order page for an upcoming foldable also includes a boarding-pass-like element with its top section cut off. Its shorter and wider proportions align with the design direction suggested by the Spider-Man clip.
These promotional details do not confirm the final product design or the official name of Samsung’s upcoming Fold line. Samsung has yet to formally confirm the wide-format foldable shown in the campaign.
Samsung Unpacked Will Provide the Answer
Samsung is scheduled to reveal its new devices on July 22 in London at 2 p.m. local time, or 6:30 p.m. IST. The Galaxy Unpacked event should clarify whether the device in the video is the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The event is also expected to feature the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Glasses, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Ultra 2. Samsung has not officially confirmed the full product lineup.
For now, the wider silhouette is the strongest clue surrounding the next Fold model. If it reflects the final design, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could stand apart from earlier Samsung foldables through its changed proportions.
