Casio has introduced three MTP-B146 watches in the United States, choosing a restrained 1980s-inspired design over smart functions. The new Casio MTP-B146 lineup focuses on analogue timekeeping, a full day display, and prices starting at $110.
The watches offer a deliberately uncomplicated alternative to models that add Bluetooth connectivity or solar charging. Their core functions are limited to hours, minutes, seconds, the day, and the date.
Three finishes, one shared format
The MTP-B146D-1AV and MTP-B146D-2AV use silver-tone stainless steel cases and bands. The MTP-B146G-3AV adds a gold ion-plated finish to its stainless steel case and band, which raises its price to $130.
| Model | Finish | Case and Band Material | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTP-B146D-1AV | Silver-tone | Stainless steel | $110 |
| MTP-B146D-2AV | Silver-tone | Stainless steel | $110 |
| MTP-B146G-3AV | Gold-finished | Gold ion-plated stainless steel | $130 |
All three watches share the same physical dimensions, measuring 40.8 x 35 mm with an 8 mm thickness. Each weighs 85 grams and is intended for wrist sizes from 150 to 205 mm.
The cases are paired with stainless steel bracelets secured by one-touch, three-fold clasps. Mineral glass protects the dial, while a 50-metre water-resistance rating supports daily exposure to splashes and shallow swimming.

A dial built around readability
The full day is displayed at the 12 o’clock position instead of the abbreviated format commonly found on watches. A date window sits at 3 o’clock, while simple indices and conventional hands keep the dial uncluttered.
This layout gives the retro Casio watches a distinctly old-school character without changing their everyday purpose. The visual emphasis remains on reading the time rather than managing additional functions.
Quartz power for long-term use
Casio equips every model with a standard quartz movement powered by an SR920SW battery. The company states that the battery should last for about three years before replacement is needed.
The shared movement reinforces the collection’s functional approach, with no extra features requiring regular interaction. According to Gizmochina, all three models are already available through the Casio US website.
The launch follows other recent Casio releases with very different priorities, including an all-black G-Steel model with Bluetooth and solar charging. It also comes after the company’s Color Camo models, which use a Y2K-inspired aesthetic rather than the MTP-B146’s more traditional design language.
